How should you position this collar on the dog's neck? should it sit low, or high and tight like a prong collar?
Answer by ChewyJul 19, 2018
To assure a proper fit, please follow these steps: 1. Have your pet standing comfortably. 2. Center the contact points underneath your pet's neck, touching the skin. 3. The collar should fit snugly, yet loose enough to allow one finger to fit between the strap and your pet's neck. 4. Allow your pet to wear the collar for several minutes then recheck the fit. Check the fit again as your pet becomes more comfortable with the collar.

do you use a voice command along with the collar when stoping the behavior, like 'no jump' when she jumps on people? or 'no bark'?
Answer by ChewyDec 21, 2017
More success will occur by teaching the dog a command first before reinforcing the command with the Remote Transmitter. This System will include a general guide to help with training your pet.

Should we leave on the rubber/silicone covers? I am hearing mixed answers - I think the booklet says to leave them on, but father in law says the rubber will absorb the shock.
Answer by ChewyJun 09, 2019
The silicone covers can filter or block the shock, so we recommend removing the silicone covers to implement shock correction.

What is the difference between the Petrainer 998 DRB, DRU, DBB, DBU?
Answer by ChewyFeb 06, 2019
The DR models are water resistant, the DB models are waterproof. The U models include an updated charging system and pairing method.

Big Dog Training

I have a 70 lb staffy/dane/mix who is 1 1/2 years old. Short-haired. She has a personal space issue while we eat that we needed more help solving. This trainer is working great toward our goals. It's easy to understand, program and change. I use the verbal command we want then wait for her to do as we asked then I use the vibration mode set to about 30 and repeat the command. 15-20 only makes her look down and she didn't connect the stimuli to what we were telling her. 40 scared her too much. 30 was adequate for our pup to get her attention. We will likely move it back down to a lower setting now that she has connected the stimuli to our words. (you can choose 1-100 on each setting except the light flash setting) I recommend that you put the collar on your pup for the majority of the day so she doesn't feel like the collar itself is punishment. It's important for her to receive rewards and love and get comfortable with her usual activities just like she would without the collar. It has a clip on the back of the walkie so you can keep it on your body. We are using it only for 1 command at a time and only use the collar corrections when we are certain she knows how to be successful with the commands we give her. Otherwise, a collar correction could build huge anxiety and unwanted behaviors in your dog if she doesn't know how to do what you're asking her to do.

Just spend the extra money and get a better brand!

Only had for 4months and won’t charge! Had the same problem with the last one I bought same brand and model. Not worth the money just spend the extra and get a good brand.

Good product! Works great. Ours lasted for 3 years before we needed to replace it. We have a 100 pound Doberman we use it on.

Doesn't work

I have had this product on my huskies and my dogs act as if there isnt anything happening. The collar that I put on my female only works when it wants to but not when needed. The one device started vibrating and wouldnt stop but when I got it to shut off then it wouldnt turn back on. Will never try and other devices from this maker.

Doesn't last

I bought this product a few months ago. It worked the first and second time that I tried to use it and never again. I have tried charging it several times to see if that was the issue, but it is not. Also, the settings on the collar did not stop the behaviour. The only setting that would have been effective is shock which has to be increased above 50 to have any impact.
