I put this on a storage tote and put my cat’s litter maid litter box inside the box. It worked great! Except he would lock himself in or out. So I removed the locks. Very user friendly for my use.

    Flap Replacement

By Debb on Mar 4, 2019

Why can't I replace the just the 'flap'? The door works perfect for my 2 cats, however one of the cats broke through the flap during a bad snow storm and now I find I have to install the entire combination.

    So far so good

After installing the Pet Safe Aluminum Door, I removed it and returned it to the store and bought one of these 4 way locking doors. Don’t waste your time with the Aluminum Door, after installation I quickly discovered that the rubber flap bends as the cat enters and exits and then does not return to its original shape, meaning it stays partially open because it does not hang straight. The magnet is useless. I tried duct taping weight on the door and still, it would not close all the time. The 4-way door, so far, seems to work great. I would argue with the easy installation blurb. Once installed, I found that the “locks,” nothing more than a rotating plastic cam-shaped disc, were prevented from turning because they collided with the door. So, I removed the door and cut some half-moons in the door, allowing a space for the cam-shaped discs to rotate through. Why this isn’t provided for on the template attests to this companies’ willingness to accept mediocre as a product standard, as they obviously have done with the Aluminum Door. If you want to see this and other products in action, Go to Google and search, “teaching my cat to go through a cat door,” or something similar. You’ll see lots of different products up close and in action. If I had it to do over I probably would have gone with a different brand all together. … more

Nice, but a couple things would make it perfect

    By on

I have had 2 of these doors, both were broken when a cat ran through while the flap was locked. It destroyed the flap. It would be perfect if I could replace the flap, but no you have to buy a whole new door. I like the size, cats liked the door. Love the 4 way latch, easy to use and effective. I wish the door was not frosted so the cats could see what was on the other side before going through. Also, the spacer is semi-transparent and apparently leaks because there was moss growing in the cut out inside the cat door, it was not visible until the cat door was removed for replacement. If the spacer had been opaque no light would have penetrated and nothing would have grown. I went with a different door this time in order to be able to replace the flap when broken next time. Overall it was a good door, but not a great door. … more

    Good for the price

    By on

This was a good value for the price. Installing the screws into the door was nearly impossible, though. The plastic sleeve that goes inside needs to snap firmly into place, but instead, one slight movement and all the inner pieces fall out. I was missing one screw guide, making it nearly impossible to get that last screw in. The screws come in three sizes to fit most any door. Wouldn't you know, mine was an odd size so the medium sized screw just barely fit, while the longest screw was way too long. I finally got the pieces on, though, and the cats took to it in less than a minute.

    Cat door

    By on

Relatively sturdy door kit. Door swings with sporadic stick. Doesn't bother my cats. Installed door on breezeway porch so cats have access to garage for shelter. Total installed time was 1.30 hours. Not bad, not difficult. Hope to paint plastic surround to blend with wall on breezeway.
