Giant Breeds
I have, and have had, Irish Wolfhounds, Great Danes and English Mastiffs all at the same time. The Wolfie the tallest and one of my German Danes and a Mastiff both almost 200 lbs. They have always charged through at full speed without a hitch running and playing. When they were tiny (of only four a day or two, LOL). Admittedly, it was more like crawling over the base. But of course that's the key. They use it from day one with no fear. Seeing their older siblings they follow right along. Entice them with food. And remember, that XL door is truly large enough you can crawl through and show them how! I will admit that my friends laugh at the height I mount mine at! The top of my doggie door is always mounted even with the standard height of where you standard door know is mounted. I've never had one knocked loose from the frame of the door of a glass French door or any type of door. I've never had a flap torn torn loose from heavy use either. The occasional monster puppy that has chewed a corner, yes. But those brought trees through the door also. You may have seen them on TicToc. I highly recommend, and honesty have been using these doors in every house I've lived in for 25 years. Also in campers, motorhomes and living quarters of horse trailers. My advise is to hang 1" higher than your tallest dogs shoulders... they won't get spooked. If teaching an older dog catch the flap at first and let them gradually get used to feeling it touch their back. I hope this helps. Honestly, they will love the freedom of making their own decisions. GOOD LUCK!

Door is too small for a large breed dog
Based on the product data, I purchased this dog door for my golden retrievers. They are average height, weighing no more than 70#. They are used to using a dog door in our previous home. They refuse to go through this door, it's too small. The specs show large breed, up to 100#. I do not recommend purchasing this size. The quality is fine, etc, just the size is off.
Third time purchase
We have bought this dog door for the last three homes we have owned. It works wonderful in cold weather and hot weather. We have two large dogs and it stands up to their constant use

Pretty good
My 80# "puppy took a few days to get the hang of the door and now she's in and out all the time. I observe that the flap is not resistant to high winds (>20 mph). So I don't know how it would do in truly EXTREME weather, but a sheltered location would help reduce some secondary flapping unrelated to pet useage.

Lets see if this works
First, my yellow lab, "Groot" is 94 pounds, and has 3 doggy doors notched in his ledger, all PetSafe, however, the plastic one extreme weather, he's broken all 3, this one is aluminum, seems to have a better chance of holding up, but the opening size is larger for the plastic vs. the Aluminum, so I got it to work but had to put a lot of calk in the gaps, I drilled a hole in the edge, stuffed in the calk tube and filled it up, window and door foam might have worked better but I had none on hand an the lumber yard is a 54 mile round trip.. the trick will be, when it gets down to 20 below or lower and he hits it with his full playful lets go inside bound.. The plastic one shattered in the cold, and the doors on this still might if it gets that cold.. it's a wait an see

EXCELLENT!
My husband was very upset with me for buying this door, which is a replacement for our existing PetSafe door. He just couldn't understand how it was going to be any different than the previous two we had in the same place. The first one fell apart then I bought the PetSafe. Although I have replaced the flap of the other PetSafe door twice. It still would let in WAY too much cold air.
I left for a puppy class and the door came while I was out. My husband had it installed and was beaming when I returned! "Wow, this thing will really block the cold", he said. Look how it closes so well. Hmmm....I tried to tell him before.
We have 4 Standard Poodles and none of them, including (I should say especially) the 16-week-old puppy had any problems going through 3 flaps. The puppy flies through there. The older boys are a bit more cautious because they know someone could be going in the other direction at the same time. This one does not show the outline of a dog on the other side because of the insulation. I know they will figure out their routine soon enough.
It's snowing as I write this and I am impressed with how well the door keeps out the cold! I'm not worried about the heat until July. With a young puppy, I didn't want to put the door cover on to block the cold...I wanted him to be able to use the kennel when he needs it.

Nice and Sturdy
I bought this to replace a previous dog door that was made of plastic and broke within the first week. This door is nice and sturdy and although it took my dogs some time to get used to it, they are using it fine.

repeat purchase
I've used PetSafe products before so this is a no brainer. Have not used the one for harsher weather before and have not installed it yet to be honest but I am expecting great things based upon my past experiences with this brand.

Cold weather
The door is working well so far, we did have to do a little adjusting to it, Because when they go in and out, the magnet stays on the side they go through, so when they out out, there it wasn't sealing, so my husband had to put a piece of tape on one of the magnet to get it seal properly. This is the only door i have found that isn't $700 for extreme cold weather.
Dog door as described
Meets all expectations. I took the door down to prepare it for installation and recommend same. Followed the instructions to the letter and had no problems. Took a week for Susu to learn how to use it, but now happily comes and goes as she pleases. Effectively keeps the weather out, minimal draft. I am happy I chose this design.
