Can do better elsewhere
The toy is a bit noisy so my cat was more interested in the actual machine than the lasers. The laser pattern was also not catching his interest. A couple of times he would just look at it because the mirror is so visible. And when I went to do the manual, it wasn’t the easiest to move around on my end.
Good for young cats
I bought this because my 2 cats loved the old one that broke. This new one though has the laser dot going to fast and range is way to large. Goes from one wall to another wall. It is hard for my cats to keep track of the dot as the range is so big
Drains batteries quickly!
I put Energizer batteries in this toy and the laser light gets quicker and quicker every time I replace them. My cat Mouse has trouble finding the light and and gets bored very quickly. Wish there were optional patterns to choose from. I have a small handheld laser light to use manually this unit weighs too much to stand around and hold it to direct the light around not worth it. You should have a rechargeable unit if it's going to suck so much energy out of battery so quickly!
Defective
Would not work unless I held down battery door. I had to modify mine so it works. Because I'm not going to buy another if the reviews are bad. But it works with what I did so I can't complain much now. But in general please be aware of the problems. Other then that my cats love it so much.
Drains Batteries!
I have purchased this item several times. The construction and operation are terribly inconsistent in that while it requires four batteries, the laser light very quickly goes from robust laser with large dot to dwindling thin laser with very small dot. Cats lose interest when dot gets small and way too expensive to change batteries every week.
Not worth the money
The laser dot on this toy is so faint that, if it sits on a low table, you can't see it on the floor. Even if you you put it on the floor, you have to point it out to the cats. That's assuming YOU can even find it. The movement is minimal; small distance up and down and smaller side to side. Even after finding the dot(with help), my boys ignored it.
My kitty loves it!
Macaroni is addicted to the laser pointer. He’s around 9 months old and definitely going through a destructive/crazy phase. He will scream at us and misbehave until we play with him so he can jump 5 feet up the door like he’s possessed until his little paws leave sweat marks on the floor. This is a great way to distract/entertain him for 10 minutes. It’s kind of flimsy so I’m worried it’ll break one day, but maybe by the time it does he will be less misbehaved. :)
Bolt Laser
Trying to figure out how to return this while I write this review. The lazer is faint at best, as pointed out in other reviews. On top of that, the automatic feature, which is meant to run for 15 minutes, runs for almost 5 seconds. I will be returning this and looking for a better option for my busy cat.
Too Fast - But Cool
Cats love it, but it moves pretty fast. Then stops, then moves fast. Since it moves all over the place, it is hard for them to get to it before it moves again until it stops. Then by the time they get there it flies across the room, up the wall and stops. Cool, but they like the ones we do my hand better.
Just buy it
I work a lot and am sometimes too tired to play with my cat when I get home. This thing always keeps him entertained. I only wish I had a bigger space to use it in.
