Questions & Answers

6 Customer Questions

Could you leave this on a pet all the time so it's available if he falls in the house and can't get up?
Answer by ChewyOct 11, 2020
The Carelift Lifting Harness may be worn full-time, however it is recommended you check for chaffing on a daily basis and take breaks every couple of days to allow the skin to breathe. You will also want to monitor the dog while they wear the harness to prevent the chances of them chewing on it.

What are the measurements for sz small
Answer by ChewyJul 17, 2019
The small harness is designed to fit dogs with a waist of 12 to 24 inches, a chest girth of 12 to 26 inches, and a weight of 7 to 35 pounds.

My dog just got Acl surgery. Will this help me help him walk when he has to go to the bathroom. Will it block him or leave a space
Answer by ChewyAug 10, 2021
The lifting leash or the front and rear handles can be used to gently help the dog get up or move around without putting painful pressure on his joints. The fully padded harness provides comfort while making potty breaks simple. The back portion of the harness has a removable protection shield to minimize discomfort for male dogs. The shield can be disconnected during potty breaks, or not used at all depending on your preference.

Can this be used on a cat
Answer by ChewyAug 15, 2019
This harness can be used for a cat. To select the best size we recommend that you measure your pet's chest girth (circumference) and waist girth (circumference). To measure the chest girth you'll measure at the broadest part of the chest behind the front legs. To measure the waist girth you'll measure at the narrowest part of the waist in front of the back legs. If the dog happens to be in between sizes it's then recommended to select the bigger size.

Is not helpful

Unless you want to take your handicapped pup mountain climbing this product is a waste of money. The amount of clips and fine adjustments needed makes your pet so restricted they do not want to move with this harness on. My dog is 20lbs and had a stroke so she leans to one side. Will not stabilize her at all and to get the harness tight enough restricts any natural movement.

Misfit for Male Dogs

This size is to large for 20# male Shiz Tzu & inconvenient. I would have to leave on my dog all the time. Straps under the body are located in the wrong are.

Quality of life giver

Well designed item. The brace was used to allow my 20 pound dog, that has osteo sarcoma located in one of his back legs, to be able to walk and go up multiple stairs. I was having to carry him! Due to the fit or size of the harness, I did need to-remove the belly strap. Great design allowed that feature.

Fit is terrible

I bought this for my dog who is having issues with his hind legs to give him a little more support on his sore days. When the harness arrived there were very little instructions on how to get the harness to best fit on him, which would be very helpful since it has lots of straps and adjustable pieces. I tried my best to get it to work, but could not get it to fit my dog no matter how I tried. He also had to stand there while I did this which did not help with the issue of his hind legs being sore to begin with.

Pet harness

It seems like a good quality item still haven’t figured out how to put it on my dog think it might be faster without it because she goes out and goes potty a lot in her arthritis is so bad she can’t stand up correctly so I’m not sure how I can get the straps on it should be comfortable for her and be a time efficient matter because she has to go out every couple hours. I might have to return it for a refund or different type harness thanks so much

works great!

We got this harness to use with our beagle who has degenerative disc disease and lost the use of this hind legs while he was healing. This worked perfectly for us! We were able to support his hind legs without breaking our own backs. He usually gets anxious in harnesses but this one is lightweight and comfortable enough that even he doesn't mind wearing it.

awkward but it works

Definitely difficult to get on and adjust for a pup that is still sensitive after going down with IVDD. Much better than most of the other options that are out there. The wiener/belly strap covers his wiener so that had to come off completely. This does make it much easier to move him around rather than trying to lift his hips.

too flimsy construction

Unfortunately this item did not work. It was difficult to put on and once on correctly it was just too flimsy to work. If it where returnable I would!
