Instructions

Start by setting everyone up for success:

  • Train when your pet is somewhat hungry.
  • Ensure any “potty needs” have already been met.
  • Work in a space that is not too exciting or overstimulating.
  • If necessary, restrict the pet’s movement with a harness or leash, or even using a crate to manage the pet’s movements.

If the pet is not interested in interacting with you, be patient and take it slow. If progress doesn’t pick up within a few minutes, take a break and come back to work again later.

FAQ

Why use a Clik-R sound instead of your voice?

Using a consistent sound has several benefits over a spoken word when teaching your pet a new behavior.

The sound is unique when used only during training, unlike our voice which the pet hears all the time.

The sound is consistent. It sounds the same every time and has the same meaning – a reward is coming – every time. Our voice can say the same word in very different ways and often does due to our emotions and meaning.

The sound is clear. We often string many words together like, “Oh, what a good doggie!” making it difficult or impossible for an animal to pick out a clear marker to indicate the correct behavior.

The sound is precise. The sound is short and can mark the smallest and most subtle behaviors like a glance or turn of the head. The precise sound can improve our timing when marking the exact behavior we want.

    To correct bad behavior

    By on

We have three rotten babies and each learns the others bad habits...I have been pulling my hair out with some of these bad traits, one being constant barking, we have spend many hundreds of $$$, but they did not learn the desired trait of being quiet, now all I have to do is use my Clik-R (I have several around the house) and they shoosh... our oldest has a habit of "flicking" her tongue and has taught the baby that habit also, GRRRR, it is crazy, I clik and they stop. Works, I don't have to fuss.

    Very Convinient

    By on

I tend to not use clickers because of the hastle of having to juggle them with treats and leashes. This one, however, slides onto your finger, so you can still use both hands, while also offering quick access to mark and reward your dogs! I can definitely see myself using a clicker more often because of this convinient modification. The only thing I would change is that the "click" itself is a bit low/muted, and isn't as stark as most other brands. My pups still hear it fine though, so it's just a minor detail!

    Not loud enough

    By on

I'll be returning this product because I intend to use this for outdoor training and the sound volume is too low. I would also suggest it is too low for indoor training unless you plan to use it for 1:1 training in a quiet environment.

    Great tool

    By on

We had a clicker on a wrist strap, but it's hard to manage a puppy, leash, treats and clicker. My husband was skeptical when I told him I was getting one with a finger strap. But we have both tried this one and found it to be easier to use than those on a wrist strap.

    Huge improvement

    By on

This has been working very well for me and my fur baby. You have to be consistent with it to make real training progress but it will work. I like that the band will keep it on your finger so you don’t have to fumble with it and the button is very easy to push.

My dog is scared of it

    By on

My dog runs and hides when I click it, Lol! I have continued to use my "yes" marker vocally instead. Maybe I will try again at a later time.

    It's ok I wouldn't buy it again

    By on

Sometimes it clicks sometimes it doesn't. The finger strap is handy but I wish it would click the first time instead of having to push it multiple times!

This clicker is loud enough to get my puppy's attention and works well in training him.
