I bought this a couple years ago and only thought of it now because I might need one that works soon. I bought it for a diabetic cat, so that she would be fed when I worked late, was gone over night, or had an emergency. Everything looked like it was operating correctly, was powered and put in a scheduled time (number of hours away for food). And then I had to use it and it never moved. It was on, I saw the scheduled time (number of hours), and no movement, no food. I put it away in a closet after trying twice more to reset a time to see if anything would happen, and nothing actually working.
This is our second purchase of this dish. The first one lasted almost 3 years and a cross country move! Our cat loves to eat. Once we started using this, she knows when the dish is about to open and waits on it instead of bugging us for food.
Used this for our two cats for years! First set lasted over 3 years and repurchased for the second time recently.
And easy to set up. Very useful when it’s time for your cat to go on a diet.
I had high hopes for this. It worked well until it didn't. I've had it less than a year and the motor is dead. It wouldn't be so bad if I could find a replacement part, but just like many things now, it seems this is destined for the garbage. I cannot recommend something that has such a short lifespan.
If you want a feeder that lasts under a year, this is for you. It randomly just stopped turning. The batteries still work, it still displays the time, the times they're supposed to be fed, but when you press the button to manually turn it, it doesn't work. Save your money and buy something that actually lasts longer than the batteries in it.
I got this as a controlled watering bowl for my 18 yr. old yorkie. I put about a quarter to a half cup in each section and set it for every 2 hours. I fill all the bowls in the morning and before bedtime so he has access to a limited amount of water all the time. These wells could probably be filled half-way up and not spill when it turns. It's pretty smooth moving.
The timer is very simple to program and works wonderfully. Only complaint is when my dog paws it to halfway to the next compartment it won't turn to the next until you push it to a whole compartment
This would probably be great for most cats, but my (very food motivated) kitty figured out how to spin the feeder to get more portions in about 48 hours.
Please tell me why feeders are skipping feeding zones automatically?
