Instructions
  • Before playing with your dog, turn the unit off and remove the Bark Control Collar. The activity may cause your dog to bark, which could lead to him associating the play with the burst of spray.
  • The collar must be filled to maximum capacity before placing it around your dog’s neck. Never fill the device while your dog is wearing it because it may damage the Refill Port.
  • To ensure that your dog does not make the connection between you and the spray collar, don’t let him see you prepare the device for the first try, or for subsequent use. Keep your dog away while you prepare the device as well as when you fill it or change the battery. Avoid letting your dog wear the device with an empty reservoir. Make sure it is always full.
  • It is important that your dog’s hair doesn’t block the Spray Nozzle. Try tying a bandanna (handkerchief) around your dog’s neck, then place the spray collar over it. If necessary, you may also consider trimming a little of the long hair around the dog’s neck for better spray effect.
  • Remove all other collars with metallic parts or tags. These could create noise that may needlessly activate the spraying device.
  • Turn OFF the device while not in use.
  • The PetSafe Elite Little Dog Spray Bark Control should only be used with pets that are over 6 months of age.
  • If your pet is injured or its mobility is otherwise impaired, contact your veterinarian or professional trainer before use.
  • Do not leave your device unattended where your dog could accidentally damage it through chewing.
  • The spray from the Bark Control Collar may stick to the hair under your dogs snout. Clean your dog’s hair weekly with a washcloth and a mild hand soap. Rinse and dry your dog’s neck thoroughly.
  • If the spray accumulates on the Bark Control Collar, wipe the receiver clean with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly.

Battery Life

Average battery life is 2 to 4 months, depending on how often your dog barks. However, due to greater use during your dog’s training, your first battery may not last as long as replacement batteries.

Troubleshooting

The Anti-Bark Collar does not spray.

  • Ensure the battery is properly installed
  • Replace the battery
  • Refill the spray
  • Ensure the unit is turned ON

My bark control collar sprays, but my dog keeps barking. Check to make sure the spray nozzle points towards the dog's snout; make sure your dog's hair does not block the spray.

When I try to refill the Citronella Spray, the spray leaks out around the Spray Nozzle. Hold the spray can upright. If it is held at an angle, it will not create a good seal; press firmly on the spray can to create a good seal.

Size

The Elite Little Dog Spray Back Control Collar is for dogs up to 55 lbs, and fits neck sizes up to 20 inches. The box dimensions are 1-in x 7/8-in x 7/8-in.

FAQ

Will another dog’s bark set off the Bark Control Collar? No.

Will the Bark Control Collar work for my dog? The Bark Control Collar is safe and effective for all breeds and sizes of dogs, however, it is recommended for little dogs.

Will this work with long haired dogs? Yes. It may be necessary to trim the hair on your dog’s neck so it does not block the spray from reaching his snout.

Does the spray need to hit my dog’s nose? No. The spray is very fine and simply creates a mist in the region of the snout.

    Finally found one that works!

    By on

Been having problems with our Maltipoo for barking too much. We tried so many things and spent so much money and none of them worked till this one. It does what it says it will do and stops our dog from barking. One week of using it and our dog gets it now so he doesn’t even try barking anymore. I Highly recommend it and will be getting another one for our maltese too :)

    Do not waste your money

We purchased this and it does not work. We were replacing an older spray bark collar which worked well. The spray on this collar is not working and our dog Ella is barking constantly when we let her out outside. It is also very difficult to turn the gear to turn it on and off. We had to use a penny to place in the slot to turn the gear on or off.

    Didn't spray with every bark

    By on

I would not recommend this for small dogs. I made the collar as tight as possible on my Maltese/Havanese mix. His thick coat had been shaved to the skin to ensure a good connection for the vibration sensing, but still only sprayed twice for about 20-30 barks. Each of the times it sprayed he did startle and stop barking but with the inconsistency it would never work to train him not to bark.

    Inconsistent

    By on

I was hopeful to start using this collar on my pup who barks at every dog he sees. The thing is hard to turn on. I have to switch it off and on 50 times until the green light finally comes on. The collar sprayed my dog once after already barking at 10 different dogs. Not reliable.

    It really works

I have a cairn terrier that loves to bark. The first thing he does when he goes outside is start barking (at deer, at other dogs, at nothing....) I tried the sonic egg....didn't help. I tried a no bark collar that emits a high pitch beep and vibration. It worked for a while and then he began to ignore it. It also can shock but that is no good because it only makes them yelp and bark even more, which causes the collar to shock again!!. Please do not use a shock collar!!!! As a last resort I bought the PetSafe Elite Little Dog Spray Bark Control collar. I couldn't believe it! It really works for my cairn terrier. Just a note, make sure you turn the dial to 'on' and the light begins to flash (indicating that it is working). I can't say that it will work for everyone but it sure worked for my barker. … more

    Spray Bark Control Collar

    By on

I really like the fact that the collar will spray when the dog barks. My dog stops barking immediately when sprayed. This makes for a much quieter house.

    last hope, fingers crossed

My little elderly dachshund is a barker. After moving recently her separation anxiety when I'm at work has gotten worse. After a second complaint from the upstairs neighbor - I've tried a few different things. This spray collar was my lifesaver. I don't wear it on her when I'm home...I mean dogs bark..and she only barks at the door or loud noises coming from upstairs. But the consistent barking when I'm not home has gone from hours of continued barking to None. I watch her on the cam now and she doesn't even try to bark anymore. I just hope she doesn't figure out a plan to break it! LOL ...but I recommend this for a consistent barker

    Really Helped with Anxiety Barking

    By on

This collar fits my 12 lb. poodle mix without being too bulky. I wish the reservoir was clear so I could see the level of citronella solution (hence the 4 stars). It has helped with her separation anxiety barking. So, while this wouldn't be my first choice of remedies for the problem, I felt like I had tried everything else (including Prozac). I don't think it hurts her in any way and she settles down in about eight minutes as compared with one hour plus of non-stop barking and howling without the collar. I have only audio recordings, so I can't say for sure what is happening, but I'm hopeful.

    Bark Collar

    By on

We bought one collar for two toy Australian shepherds. The collar works great for one. However, the second dog is not even phased by the collar. Is it because she has a neck of fluffy fur. We don't know so undecided about this but safer for a dog versus a bark collar.

    Happy with product

    By on

I've had this product for 4 days. I am happy to say it works as advertised. I was extremely hesitant to use any sort of training collar but, after a year of trying to stop my cockapoo from barking at every dog we encountered, I was at the end of my rope. He was frightened by the spray the first few times but now he is beginning to understand the connection between the collar and barking. We have a ways to go but I am so hopeful now. Its unfortunate that a few people are experiencing difficulty with the collar but I'm glad I purchased it.
