The PetSafe Gentle Leader Chic Padded Dog Headcollar & Leash prevents pulling, lunging, jumping, and other undesired behaviors with immediate control. Unlike traditional collars, this leader places pressure on the back of the neck instead of the front of the delicate throat, preventing choking and coughing. The nose loop allows you to direct your pup’s head in the direction you want to go, training your dog to stop pulling and start paying attention during walks. Help refocus your furry friend’s attention away from the squirrel, dog, or stranger across the street, and keep him focused and calm when out and about.

Fitting instructions & Training DVD.
Follow instructions carefully when fitting and using on bulldogs and other breeds with genetically limited airways or flat noses. It is typical for these dogs to frequently experience breathing difficulties when exercising or under stress because of their physically limited airways. If their usual breathing difficulties increase when wearing the head collar, immediately discontinue use and consult your veterinarian.
Open neck strap and hold one end in each hand. The nose loop should hang down, like the letter T.
Position the neck strap as high up as possible, just behind the ears. Gently pull any excess skin and coat down and out from under the neck strap.
Neck strap must be snug so only one finger can fit under it, and it cannot rotate around the neck. If the neck strap rotates, so will the nose loop, which may cause chafing of the skin.
Remove the headcollar neck strap and prepare to fit the nose loop up through the centerbar ring. Be ready with some tasty treats.
Hold the nose loop open and feed a treat through the loop. You want to encourage your dog to place his nose through the loop by offering a treat.
Snap neck strap high on the neck at its pre-fitted position. Make final adjustment to nose loop by sliding the snap clamp up or down to adjust. With thumb and index finger, pinch nose loop underneath the snap clamp, temporarily holding it.
Test fit the nose loop by pulling it forward. When it touches the beginning of the fleshy part of the nose, but is not so loose that you can pull it off the nose, close snap clamp by pressing down on tab, you'll hear a snap as it locks. Connect leash to "O" ring.
Final fit. When properly fitted and viewed from the side headcollar will resemble a "V" and the center bar will rest above the tracheal area.
To select the most accurate size collar for your pet, measure the center of their neck with a cloth tape measure, a few inches down from their head. Pull the cloth tape measure snug, but not tight. If you don't have a cloth tape measure, you can use a piece of string and measure it with a rigid ruler afterwards. Make sure there’s enough room for about two fingers between the collar and your pet’s neck for comfort.

Lead attaches to end of snout loop witch is adjusted with a largish metal buckle. So you actually leading dog by top of snout, totally useless thing
Asking for replacement. This medium is too big for my dog.
It's a godsend. Without it, I would not be able to control my 85 pound yellow lab safely. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. And did I say that she loves the print <3
It takes a bit for the dog to get used to having this on their nose but there is an easy way to train the dog to it. Put it on, say, "Good dog!", give a treat, take it off. "Rinse and repeat" several times. This is so much better than a harness because you are controlling the head. Where the head goes, the body must follow so turn to the right and the dog turns to the right, etc.
I’ve got a 4yo 45 pound mutt that is all muscle. I’ve used a harness on her since she was a puppy. Unfortunately she does just okay when I walk with her on the harness, but is terrible for everyone else in the house. It took maybe 4 minutes of taking it on and off multiple times just to get her use to it. After that, she has completely stopped pulling with EVERYBODY so now I’m mad at myself for waiting 4 years to use this
Decided to upgrade our 9m Great Dane pup from the plain black gentle leader to the Poppy one in hopes that everyone would stop calling her a very big/handsome boy. That part didn’t work but her new collar and leash are the same fantastic quality as her previous one and, as always, makes walks much more enjoyable for her and us.
The head halter fits nicely the light blue background with the bone shapes goes great with his lighter golden colar it works for what I need it to do helps me to keep him from picking up thing he shouldn’t
The scent of the litter was so overwhelming that it made my family nauseous. If you are scent sensitive I would recommend skipping this product in favor of an unscented lightweight litter. Also due to the lightweight litter we found that it would stick to our cats paws more than traditional litter and they would track it around the house. Other than that the product performed well with clumping.
OH MY GAWD, I got this for my dog who already wears a "boring" red Gentle Leader. She is a little bit chonk, so when I saw the Donut style I KNEW she had to have it. It is perfect, as usual. I did notice that they changed the clip under the chin from plastic to metal, which is fine and probably "longer wearing." The short leash that came with it is also cute but I don't use it much. Could have done without it.
Head collar is simple to use and works well. The only small issue I had was that my puppy was able to unlock the clip for the nose adjustment. I was able to remedy this by wrapping the locking clip with some masking tape. I would suggest that the company find a much more secure locking clip.
