To get the most accurate size harness for your pet, measure the girth of their chest, around the widest part of your dog's torso right behind the front legs, with a cloth tape measure. Pull the cloth tape snug, but not tight. If you don't have a cloth tape measure, you can use a piece of string and measure it with a rigid ruler afterwards. Make sure there's enough room for about two fingers between the harness and your pet's chest for comfort.
Bought this for a 16 pound Havanese. it is easy to put on the dog and he likes to wear it. however, I need to tighten it and it is very difficult to actually get the thick nylon strap fabric to move the way I need it to.
Better than nothing but...

It doesn't seem like it is the best design. The harness part moves around on my dog body no matter who tight I size it. It is definitely better than nothing for sure as the dog is not going to fly out of our car in case of an accident or short stop but there should be a better design.
Great for long rides

I have an 80lb lab/shepherd mix that loves car rides. This has worked perfectly for me the last few months of driving with her. The sizing leaves it a little loose in the front, but I think that’s due to her rib cage size. It stays on well regardless. I use this with the car zip line and it’s awesome. She stays in the back safely and has a great time. It’s not good for long walks, as the harness tends so slide to the side, but I only use it for the car. I haven’t tried it with a seatbelt, but it works great with the car zip line!
It does the job

It's sufficient for it's purpose. It took a while to figure out how it goes on the dog. I've had others that are much simpler to figure out.

My dog has this harness for car rides but can wriggle out of this in less than a mile. I've started tying her normal harness leash to the seatbelt in addition.

The instructions are not clear. The top padding bunches up. The D-ring is not centered. Sorry we spent the money on the harness. Did not live up to our expectations. for traveling with our 40 lb. Goldendoodle.
Poor sizing instructions

I really wanted to like this, but it was much too big and bulky for my labradoodle, in spite of following sizing suggestions. If your dog is between sizes, by all means, order down!
That said, I do appreciate Chewy’s full refund/no return policy.
Safe and secure

I got this harness for my Silky Terriers for the many car trips we take. It takes a bit of effort to adjust just right but once adjusted, it is easy to put on and take off. The harness is well fitting and doesn't allow them to slip a leg out or slide around. I use this with a car seat for added protection. I was in a car accident with one of my Silkies, Cooper, and the harness and car seat kept him safe and secure. He was still safe and sound in his harness and car seat after the impact.
Safe and easy to put on, but....

We bought this harness because it was crash-tested. Once we tried it on our squirmy puppy, we were pleased how easy it was to put on her: through the front legs and clips on top!. But the harness is bulky and slides to her side when she moves in the car. I think the top loops are too big. We haven't found a crash-tested harness that is this easy to put on our puppy. Tried the Kurgo Tru-fit Smart harness, but it is only easy to put on a dog that sit still.....not our situation at all---it was impossible in fact, so we'll stick with the PetSafe Harness for now.
Better than some

The harness is light weight but solid feeling which matters to me because the other harnesses I have are very heavy. For really long trips I want them to be comfortable and safe. It seems to me having this extra weight doesn’t seem comfortable. So far my 23 lb pugenise who must have read up on Houdini hasn’t gotten out of this harness yet. I like how it fits his broad chest but doesn’t cut off at the throat or under his front legs. I don’t think this can double as a harness to walk dog’s in because of the set up in back. It wouldn’t work.
