The Pet Ramp should come packaged with the safety locking strap engaged (on side of ramp, see image). To disengage, pull on the finger tab which will remove the bulb end from the opposite ramp piece.
-
To use the Pet Ramp, simply unfold into a straight shape, set the angled, upper end (with the “Solvit” logo) on the surface to which the pet is trying to climb (car, couch, etc.), and set the angled, lower surface on the ground. When finished, simply fold the ramp into the closed position, engage the safety locking strap, and stow in a convenient place.
-
It is important to make sure the rubber feet on the upper and lower ends of the ramp are resting firmly on a stable surface (car bumper, sidewalk, etc.) before using. If the rubber feet are not in contact, the ramp could shift during use.
-
Please note when the safety locking strap is not engaged, it is possible for the ramp to swing open unintentionally. Always engage the locking strap when the ramp is not in use.
-
Training: Many pets will begin using the Pet Ramp with no hesitation. If your pet is unsure at first, lay the Ramp flat on the ground and allow your pet to become comfortable walking on it before using it in an inclined position. It also helps to hold your pet by the collar and offer reassuring praise and/or treats as your pet gains confidence using the Ramp. For vehicle use, command your pet to stay inside the vehicle until the Ramp is deployed, then walk your pet down safely.
-
If the plastic parts of the Pet Ramp become dirty, simply clean with any standard household cleaner. The tread material can be cleaned with mild detergent and a stiff brush, or a strong jet of water. The Ramp should be maintenance-free. If a problem occurs, please contact Customer Service below.

Can I use the ramp to help my pet go up stairs?
Yes, but with limitations. The “pitch” of stairs is generally much steeper than ramps (think of wheelchair ramps outside of buildings), so placing the ramp over the top of stairs will make it too steep to use. If the staircase only consists of a few steps, then the ramp might work but the bottom of the ramp must be placed farther out than the bottom step. The average “height” of individual steps (known as the “rise”) is 7-8 inches. By referring to the “recommended height” figure for a given ramp, you can determine how many steps can be covered safely. For example, the Deluxe Telescoping Ramp extends to 72 inches and is recommended for heights up to 28 inches. This ramp would probably work well for covering 3-4 steps. However, it’s always best to measure the rise (height) and run (length) of the area involved to make sure the ramp will work in your particular situation.

Exactly as promised
By Kona on Feb 2, 2021
This ramp is easily lifted by 1 person, and it rides in the back of my CRV along with Kona. Kona is a 65 lb. black lab and adapted to the ramp with 2 practices using treats. The first time was flat on the ground, then going in and out of the car. We use it to get in the back of the car, but if you are not parked right next to another car, it could be used to get in the front seat. Very, very pleased.

Sandpaper freaked out dogs
By Bowserbobbeagle on Feb 23, 2021
Manufacturer could of put down rubber or outdoor carpet on the ramp the sandpaper freaks out my 4 pups .. it is lightweight , folds up nice , wide enough for my bigger dog . Plan on gluing down carpet once the weather breaks or find heavy duty rubber

Folding Ramp
By Engs on Jan 5, 2021
This ramp works perfectly for getting our dog in and out of our SUVs. He knew exactly what to do right away and it is saving our backs!! It's lightweight enough to easily fold and throw into the back of the SUV while being sturdy enough to hold his weight. We love that it has a grip surface so that he doesn't slip with wet paws. It's great!

Perfect for my doxie girl
By Katie on Jan 12, 2021
This ramp requires no assembly and is easy to set in place. My 10lb doxie girl got the hang of using it quickly and it was long enough to set up on the bed without creating an overly steep incline. There was an issue ordering but as always chewy took immediate action and sorted it right out.

learning to use
By caymansmom on Jan 11, 2021
I have a 12 yr old lab mix. It took about a week but she is finally getting the hang of it. With old legs and cataracts she was having trouble jumping in my small suv. Going down is easier for her but going up she sometimes can't get all four feet going. Its a work in progress.

OK but needs improvement
By dogmom on Jan 16, 2021
Probably fine for a small to medium dog, but rather narrow for larger, very energetic dogs. Easy to handle and store. Sturdy. We had to attach strips of indoor/outdoor carpet to give our dog more traction going in both directions.

Slippery and Narrow
By Izzy on Feb 16, 2021
The ramp has no grip. It has a sandpaper feel and my lab kept slipping. It was so narrow too that her paws were falling off the slides. She was terrified

Works like a champ!
By Cathy on Dec 12, 2020
My 100 pound lab couldn’t jump into my car anymore due to his hip dysplasia so I bought this ramp. We let him practice on the floor a couple of times and the next day set it up on an incline to get him into the car. With only a little encouragement he walked right up the ramp! The ramp is sturdy and didn’t slip a bit. Great investment for my older dogs

Great ramp even for rear car seat
By Peony on Nov 20, 2020
Works fine even for the backseat of a small car. The angle requires helping our med/large, 50+ pound dog carefully to avoid slipping off the seat, but it's still very doable. The raised edge on the ramp keeps paws on even when he's unsteady. The ramp is light enough & easy for a senior person to handle. Surface helps with dog traction but still easy to clean. Add a Help'em Up brand harness and backseat hammock or bridge and a senior dog with challenges can still get where he needs to go without breaking the back of the owner!
