FAQ

Can I use the ramp to help my pet go up stairs?

Yes, but with limitations. The “pitch” of stairs is generally much steeper than ramps (think of wheelchair ramps outside of buildings), so placing the ramp over the top of stairs will make ittoo steep to use. If the staircase only consists of a few steps, then the ramp might work but the bottom of the ramp must be placed farther out than the bottom step. The average “height” of individual steps (known as the “rise”) is 7-8 inches. By referring to the “recommended height” figure for a given ramp, you can determine how many steps can be covered safely. For example, the Deluxe Telescoping Ramp extends to 72 inches and is recommended for heights up to 28 inches. This ramp would probably work well for covering 3-4 steps. However, it’s always best tomeasure the rise (height) and run (length) of the area involved to make sure the ramp will workin your particular situation.

    Very nice product

By Riles on Aug 3, 2021

sadly it did not fit my Ford Escape passenger door and our Riley could not walk on it. It is made well and light weight and easy to carry from car to car. We were refunded our money and the Ramp will be donated to our local Shelter. Thank you Chewy for always doing the right thing and having what our fur babies need.

Did not work with my car

    By zoogrl31 on May 31, 2020

This is the 2nd ramp I have tried to buy for use in my 4 door sedan and it did not work. It was too thick and would not fit under the door and putting it on the seat would have been way to steep of an angle for my 80# golden retriever. Will be returning. I can not seem to find a ramp that works for a sedan. These compaines only seem to make them for suv type cars and minivans.

    She won’t use it

By Boxermom on Mar 17, 2020

Everything about this ramp is good, but my 72 pound American Bulldog WILL NOT use it. I was able to tug her up while coaxing with a biscuit, but I cannot do that regularly. I will keep it near the car for when she is just too ill/old to get into the car for vet trips. I had hope it would work for getting her onto my bed, but it’s too short. Anyway, it’s a good product; just not right for us.

    Not ideal for sedans

    By IMGA2019 on Apr 1, 2020

This is a sturdy ramp that should work well with large cars but isn't good for my sedan. I can use it if I place it on the flattest part of the bottom back door frame but must hold at the other end or my dog's weight flips it over and she falls. Not my best buy.

Not for my 14+ year old

By Vics on Jan 8, 2020

Since he wouldn't try it out at car, with treats, etc... I laid on living room floor with his treats, blanket and even sat on it my self to watch tv! Not easy for these bones to do. Rian Coyote probably laughed at me. I will be returning, for that price even though great- have to figure something out! I do think it was the better one, the surface was more like street, etc. Should have started at a young age!

    Good and not so good

By Gracie on Jan 24, 2020

Gracie refuses to use the ramp -- and it's too steep for her to get in and out of the Grand Cherokee -- and the other for the bed is also too steep for her to use... What is the process of returning the ramps for credit?? I was very impressed with quick delivery when ordered...

    Perfect for couch

    By Cnelson75 on Sep 30, 2019

Just what I wanted - all our dachshunds can get up and down the couch now with no assistance! They don't mind the tread on the ramp at all (as I saw in some other reviews before purchasing their dogs didn't like it)- they use it all the time and I feel safe with them going down with the tread that is there. The only thing I would have wanted is some legs at the top. My husband is going to put a "brace" on it so it's just a tad more sturdy.
