Will this ramp work on concrete steps
Answer by ChewyAug 14, 2018
While this ramp can be used on stairs, there are limitations. The “pitch” of stairs is generally much steeper than ramps (think of wheelchair ramps outside of buildings), so placing the ramp over the top of stairs will make it too steep to use. If the staircase only consists of a few steps, then the ramp might work but the bottom of the ramp must be placed farther out than the bottom step. The average “height” of individual steps (known as the “rise”) is 7-8 inches. By referring to the “recommended height” figure for a given ramp, you can determine how many steps can be covered safely.

Can the top be secured to make the ramp more permanent?
Answer by ChewyMay 31, 2018
This product is not able to be secured in one place. It's designed to be lifted up and moved around.

Answer by ChewyJan 01, 2018
This ramp isn't intended to stay outdoors and should be stored inside when not in use.

I have a Volvo XC90 with a tailgate. How would this ramp attach safely to the tailgate?
Answer by ChewyNov 13, 2017
To use the Pet Ramp, simply set the angled, upper end on the surface to which the pet is trying to climb, un-snap the safety release strap (if engaged), then pull out the inner slide to the required length and set it on the ground. The advanced design of the ramp holds itself in place when weight is applied, so there is no need for extra devices to lock the ramp in position.

Flexes a lot??

Our ramp arrived promptly. It was easy to set up. I am using it indoors where we have two steps up(15in) from the living room to the family room. My 90lb female Rottweiler has a torn ACL and is recovering from surgery. I have back issues, 128lb. The ramp was easy to set up. We have it extended to it's full length. Elevation is perfect. My problem is, the ramp flexes when either my dog or I walk on it. I thought we were each under the weight limit. I wonder if there is a way to stabilize it? Note, the nonskid surface does not bother my dog at all. The flexing bothers me!

It's awesome

I looked at a lot of ramps, was not impressed with the folding ramps for my 80#, 11 year old dog with arthritis. Finally settled on the Happy Ride Telescoping Ramp. I love it. It's light enough for me to handle - I'm over 70 - and it's sturdy! I will admit that the walking surface is like rough sandpaper so I took a couple of my old towels and put them on it before she goes up it. Wonder of wonders - it only took 2 tries for her to run up it. She's a little more hesitant to come down but she does and I'm sure it will get easier for her as we use it more. I'm so happy that we have found a way to help protect her shoulders from jumping. I have not added a picture but I absolutely love this ramp!

Ramp for RV

We got this ramp for my older dog to get up the first steps into our RV. With a week of training, the dog was going up the ramp and into the RV with a treat. That's where the 2 stars come from. I was able to accomplish what I needed with the ramp. On the other hand, I opened this ramp and the grip tape was peeling off already, and refuses to stick to the ramp. This is bad as the ramp is plastic and slippery. Also, being that the ramp is plastic, it has some give as its walked on, especially if you have a bigger dog. For a $150 ramp I definitely would have expected the quality to be a little better.

Great ramp, don’t forget to buy treats too!

This is a great ramp. It has been incredibly helpful for my dog to get up the 3 stairs into the house as he recovers from back surgery. (Putting a treat in the middle and two at the top helps encourage him!) It feels a little less stable when it’s pulled all the way out but I have a big 100-lb dog; it might be just fine for a smaller pup. We found only partially extending it gives a good balance of sturdy but not too steep.

Great ramp for my 11 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback

I tried to save a few dollars and get the regular size ramp for my 125 lb Ridgeback but his feet would slip off the sides so I ended up getting the x-large ramp too. The x-large one has worked much better. The width makes a big difference, as does the length of the ramp which makes the angle a much gentler slope for him. I cut a strip of rug gripper pad to lay on top of the ramp, as the sandpaper-like surface isn't as grippy as it could be. The ramp is easy to use.

Dog Car Ramp for LARGE DOGS

I previously bought a different type of dog ramp, however, even though it was American made, it was clearly made just for small, light weight dogs. So I kept researching and found the PetSale Telescoping Dog Car Ramp, picturing a German Shepard. I figured this should work for my Alaskan Malamute & Leonberger (they weigh 120 / 100 pounds). Training was easy, just use some treat. Surface is nice a catchy / non-slip. The ramp is a little on the heavy side to load and unload into car, but that's also why it is more sturdy, and made for large dogs. Both my dogs are not 8 years old. I bought the ladder to be prepared for their senior years... I think it's a great product, and is made for large dogs. I gave a 4 out of 5 star rating, only because of the weight of the product, other then that, it is a 5 star product... :)

Just what we needed!

I needed a side ramp off my deck, until I find someone to build my stairs on that side. This works great. I got the extra large size. I have two dogs, and they both weigh 30 pds. I put a motion light near for them at night. Unfortunately as I was trying to take these photos I fell off the deck onto the ramp. Quite a painful fall. I bent the ramp. I weigh 135. But the ramp survived. I put my foot on the ramp for balance to get down with a step ladder and it slipped sideways and I toppled over. You can see the bend. That is operator error, not the ramp. :) I have now secured the ramp much better with some blocks and bungied it to the deck.

Love this telescoping ramp

Our pup is a very active and able 12 year old, but after seeing a friend's dog tear his ACL getting into and out of a vehicle, I decided it was time to use a ramp. It took a few attempts before she trusted the ramp, and now she runs right up it with no stress on her joints!

PetSafe Happy Ride Ramp

Perfect, fits our RV and our Cocker Spaniel Sophie went up and down the ramp with no trouble at all, very sturdy, ramp has nonslip walk area. Could not be more pleased. I definitely recommend to anyone who has trouble getting pet in and out of vehicle or camper or stairs. You won’t be disappointed. Thanks Chewy.

Quality Ramp

We had a heavy duty plastic with marine carpet dog ramp that was coming apart after 8 years. I reviewed large ramps for large breed dogs and this one kept popping up. Secure for my newfies getting into a pickup truck with a lift kit. Took a bit to get used to the texture change on their paws, and I think it would be great if they offered this ramp with a marine carpet surface (only reason for not 5 stars). So much lighter than what you would expect for holding so much weight.
