Description

This collar is designed to prevent strangulation accidents. Dogs collars can get snagged on so many things: fences, decks, kennels and crates, bushes, floor grates—even other dog’s teeth. The KeepSafe patented break-away safety buckle prevents strangulation accidents by releasing when pressure is applied to the buckle. It can be used securely with a leash by fastening the leash to the two D rings. Made of nylon strap, fabric fastener, and metal hardware.

Key Benefits

  • Designed to prevent strangulation accidents
  • Safety buckle auto-releases if an object is caught on the collar
  • Keeps your dog safer when playing with other dogs or just playing in the yard
  • Attaches to a leash without breaking away for everyday wear
  • Made of nylon strap, patented break-away buckle, and metal hardware

  • Nice safety collar

    By on

I bought four of these collars for our dogs, one in each color. They are all great and break away as intended when no leash is in use. They hold up when out for a walk as the leash clip holds the collar together. My only complaint and why this item is not receiving 5 stars is because the blue and the purple did not have the tag clip; not a deal breaker since we attached it to the leash clip ring. It took a little more effort getting the tag clipped onto that part so it would have been nice if the blue and purple ones had come with the tag attachment. The Red and black ones both had the tag attachment piece for us to clip their ID tags into. • Not Easy To Find...

    By on

One of the four cats who live with me is petite, and finding collars for her is very difficult. For years I have bought all of their cat food from Chewy.com, and I have liked everyone there with whom I've come into contact. Because the petite eight pound cat had lost her collar, I needed a new one FAST. Chewy got this to me in 48 hours!!! As fast as they possibly could. I love the colors of the collars and their sturdiness too. I love chewy.com, that's the truth!

  • Safety is essential

    By on

After an incident where our husky got his jaw caught in our shepherd's collar, I decided to purchase a breakaway collar. Every time our husky tries to get himself wrapped up in our shepherd's collar now, it breaks away & no one gets injured. In 2 weeks, I've had to put the collar back on 7 times. It works great & now our shepherd isn't scared to have one on. We always want to ensure our furbabies are safe with whatever they have around them. These breakaway collars are essential to any dog owner. Just knowing that the collar will come off if our babies get caught on something or each other has put our hearts & minds at ease.

  • Break Away Works

    By on

This break away collar works, just not for us. It kept breaking with the slightest pull and I couldn't get it to latch together well. My dog is small enough that he's not jumping over fences so we'll go back to using a simple quick release collar.

  • Too small for a dog

    By on Top 1000 Contributor

I bought the smallest size which would be more for a cat than a dog. It was too small for my 12 lb Shih Tzu. I thought I measured correctly but apparently did not . I recently ordered the next size up and should receive it today.

  • These collars really work well for smaller dogs

I have two Miniature Schnauzers, weighing in at 15 and 19 pounds. They needed size small collars (10" - 14") and I wanted breakaway collars due to the risk of them getting tangled up when playing roughly as schnauzers do. I liked these collars initially because they came in a narrower style than most - my dogs are too small for anything wider than 3/4" wide collars. At Chewy, I also had a choice of colors. When I put these collars on my Minis, I was pleased to see how well they adjusted to fit the two different dogs. Two larger dogs also fit the medium collars well (a Shepherd/Labrador mix and a smaller Great Pyrennes female). All of them have found their collars comfortable and have made no attempts to remove them. My larger Mini did manage to jerk free from my son while out on a leash with the new collar... My son was not yet aware that he had to clip both D-rings to the leash and the dog popped the breakaway loose just as designed. I'm very impressed both with how well it came loose and how easily it was reattached! Puppy won't catch us off guard again but meanwhile she is safe when she needs to be. These breakaway collars are even better than those designed for cats. My dogs can still wear their tags while wearing their collars and they are safe while doing so! A win-win situation. … more

  • GREAT PURCHASE!

    By on

I have two small dogs (18 lbs. ea.) and one of them got a front nail caught in her narrow collar - so glad I was home when that happened. The breakaway collars give me peace of mind not only because they will release if tugged/caught on something, but they are also wide so there's less chance of a toenail hanging up on them.

  • So glad to have found this collar

A few years back my two dogs were playing with their mouths and one of the dog's lower jaws became caught in the other dog's collar. It was lucky that I was right there to undo the safety clip as one dog was choking and the one with the trapped jaw was panicking which choked the other dog even further. That is when I found these collars. I have these for all of my dogs now. Just last week I found a collar "popped" off in the back yard. I am so relieved. Obviously one dog's jaw became hooked under another dog's collar and I wasn't there. While I have only ever had this happen twice in 35 years, I would rather have this collar on the dogs than come home to a strangled dog. A friend down the street found their fence jumping dog hung itself by its collar. One neighbor came home to their small dog accidentally strangled by the large one when the large one became entangled in the little one's collar. When we walk the dogs we simply hook the lead through the D-links which keeps the collar from being able to break away. … more

  • Saving Grace

After hearing such a horror story from a GSD breeder which we are acquainted with, we decided to change our ways with the collar we use on our girl. She is able to wear her collar, tag and identification which....in case of an emergency, one would know how to find, God-forbid!.
