Troubleshooting
My pet does not respond when I press the button.
- Make sure the Receiver Collar has been turned on.
- If your range has reduced from the first time you used the Remote Trainer, the battery(s) may be low in either the Remote Transmitter or Receiver Collar.
- Many factors can impact the amount of range you have with the Remote Trainer. For a list of these factors, see “How the System Works”.
- Test the Receiver Collar. See “Test Light Instructions” for details.
- Increase the Stimulation Level. Refer to “Find the Best Stimulation Level For Your Pet” for more information.
- Make sure the Receiver Collar’s Contact Points are placed snugly against your pet’s skin. Refer to “Fit the Receiver Collar” for more information.
The receiver collar will not turn on.
- Check that two (2) CR2032 batteries have been installed properly. See “To Insert and Remove the Batteries.”
The Receiver Collar is not responding to the Remote Transmitter.
- Verify the Receiver Collar is on.
- If the Indicator Light does not come on when any button is pressed on the Transmitter, ensure that the batteries are inserted properly.
- If the first two solutions did not resolve your problem, see “To Pair the Remote Transmitter and the Receiver Collar.”

Is the Stimulation safe for my pet?
While the Stimulation is unpleasant, it is harmless to your pet. Electronic training devices require interaction and training from the owner to achieve desired results.
How old does my pet have to be before using the PetSafe Remote Trainer?
Your pet should be able to recognize basic obedience commands such as “Sit” or “Stay”. Pets should be at least 6 months old before using the Trainer.
Once my pet is trained and has been obeying my commands, will he have to continue to wear the Receiver Collar?
Probably not. You may need to reinforce training with the Receiver Collar from time to time.
Is the Receiver Collar waterproof?
Yes. When changing the batteries, be sure to keep the area free of dirt and debris. Also, make sure the screws are flush with the Battery Lid.
Will I get exactly 100 yards of range with the Remote Trainer?
The range of the Remote Trainer will vary according to terrain, weather, vegetation, as well as transmission from other radio devices. See “How the System Works” for tips on maximizing your range.
How long can I continuously deliver stimulation to my pet?
The maximum amount of time you can press the Stimulation Button and deliver stimulation to your pet continuously is 12 seconds. After this, the Remote Transmitter will time-out, and the Stimulation Button must be released and pressed again.
1-Year Limited Warranty.

Not Good Quality
By CJay on Jan 13, 2021
My dog is 12 lbs at her heaviest and her collar lasted 1 week before the entire stimulator came off of the collar. It started after 2 days, the wire came out of the side. I put the wire back in the part of the collar it came out of and three days later the entire collar was broken. They were working great with the behavior issues we were facing, but the quality of this product is not worth it. I thought Petsafe would last longer..

Short haired dogs only
By LillyPadsMom on Jan 23, 2021
I have used Pet Safe products before and they are always top notch. The problem with this unit is that it has a different type of metal prong than all of the other collars of this type, and it only comes with the very tiny ones for short haired dogs. Other collars from Pet Safe have the long and short haired prong option, but this one does not.

Too big for my dog
By Celia on Jan 13, 2021
I have two miniature dachshunds that are 9 and 14 pounds. I could barely get the collar small enough to fit them. It doesn't work consistently. Therefore, training is impossible. The product description is deceptive when it states that this collar is for toy and small breeds.

Too big and difficult to use
By SixSigmaGuy on Nov 15, 2020
1. This unit is a lot bigger than I expected. I have 12 lb chihuahua and it's way to big for her to wear around her neck. The advertising gave me the impression that this was for tiny dogs, but it's not. 2. The button on the remote that emits a sound on the collar is way too close to the button that emits the shock. Too many times I'm hitting the correction button when I just want to send her the sound. I'm very disappointed. Clearly the designers of this device weren't thinking about the poor dog, only about their pocket books.

would not recommend
By collar on Dec 10, 2020
I purchased this training collar as a moderate reminder for our cocker spaniel. This dog is only moderately active, yet the collar literally broke to pieces with normal wear. Hoping for a refund.

Not Effective
By Mabel on Oct 28, 2020
This collar may be better suited for a very small dog. The tone is not very loud and therefore hard for training. We also had to order longer prongs, have a Cavalier Spaniel mix and the shorter prongs were not effective. We were charged additionally for those. Fully turned up and no response from her for recognition training to occur. She is obedient and I think a better quality collar would be a better investment.

Shuts off for no reason
By Lablajoie on Oct 21, 2020
I bought this for one of my dogs that goes after my cat, chickens and ducks; after he tried to kill my peacock. It worked wonderfully for a while but it will shut off for no reason or, sometimes, he will roll and get it to turn off. I am so mad because he was doing so well. When I see him trying to attack the animals (the times I need it the most) and I try to shock him, I am helpless because he doesn't listen when he is in that mode.

I have E-Collars for all my pets. But this is by far the worst one I have. It night work one time and not the next. I would like to return it.

Not worth the money
By Savannah on Nov 14, 2020
This collar only works half the time. We have been trying to train our dog and are now going to have to buy a whole different collar because this one DOES NOT WORK!
