NOT A TRUE MARTINGALE COLLAR
A true martingale collar is made as part of the entire collar that fits around the neck so that when the leash is attached and there is tension on the leash the entire collar will become snug around your pets neck and they will not be able to get out of the collar. The PetSafe collar is a joke. They way is made, it is a separate strap that is attached to the collar that just hangs down and is in the way. It does not tighten the actual collar around the neck & is awkward. In addition, the sizing is way off. Do not waste your money!
Don't hold their shape
My dog came from the shelter with a martingale collar and I love it so I bought three of these when we rescued another dog. These drop down no matter how you adjust them. We have to tape them to keep the shape.
Wrong size
I thought I ordered a large. But my order shows medium. Not sure how I didn't catch that. What to do with a collar that fits my lab's nose. I think I would recommend this if I had the correct size.
Runs large
I ordered the small the smallest I could make the collar was 9” and the biggest I could make it was 15”. My dog’s neck measured 9” and when she is walking normally it has a lot of extra fabric hitting her shoulder with the metal ring, which I’m concerned may cause a sore spot over time. I’m wondering if the petite would fit her properly and not hit her shoulder. It is enough fabric that I could put all my fingers in the loop, I wear size 8 gloves, so if you need a handle, the sizing may be right for you. I’m satisfied with the quality of the collar two weeks in. I agree with others that the the red is not a true red more bright red, I could see how some people are seeing some bright pink. Thinking I need the petite now.
Adjustment won't hold
WARNING: The straps are so flimsy that they slip right through the buckle for size adjustment so that you can't set the correct size and have it hold. It's JUNK! Useless! I'm so mad I purchased this AND the larger size at the same time for growth. Why does CHEWY peddle junk?! And, ironically, called "PETSAFE"?!
Happy Chihuahua Mix
My chihuahua mix hates the feeling of harnesses but I wanted to protect his neck. This collar is the perfect circumference for him to grow into it even. More importantly it's really thick for a small collar. He has plenty of surface area for safety and is comfy in his new collar. Cute to boot and I'm happy knowing he can't slip out of it.
Confusing
This collar had to be cut off because the instructions are not perfectly clear. Make sure to check out a video before wearing this but great otherwise
Not good
Should have read the reviews. I just adopted an 8 pound chiweenie who didn't know how to walk on a leash. This collar worked great for 1 week. Tonight, she pulled and the collar slid through the adjustment buckle but it didn't get smaller, it got bigger. Won't trust this brand again.
Not easy to take off
When I bought this I didn't realize it doesn't have a buckle to take it on and off. You have to slip it over the dog's head. When sized appropriately, it's hard to get back off over their ears, so it doesn't work well and I'll be donating it instead of using it.
Love these Collars for Training!
These are so helpful for pulling and are a gentle way to teach a dog that it is pulling too much. Use these and then teach your dog to do a loose leash heel for wonderful walks.
