The PetSafe Pet Loo Portable Indoor & Outdoor Dog Potty is your backyard in a box. Ideal for apartments or in times when you can’t just let your pet out, this system gives your dog, cat or other small pet a convenient and more comfortable alternative to potty pads. The top layer lets your pet feel the grass under his paws and allows urine to quickly drain through. FAQ

How do I clean it?

To clean up your pet’s waste, remove the waste container and dump the urine in your toilet or yard. The waste container holds 2 liters of liquid and is made of a material that reduces odor. For even easier cleanup, place a Pee Pod into the waste container. These disposable pods are lined with our Wee Sponge powder that solidifies into a gel when it comes in contact with liquid, effectively trapping urine and odors. For your pet’s solid waste, use a pooper scooper or a poop bag.

Does your dog lift his leg to mark his spot? Place a small vertical object like a disposable cup or flowerpot in the middle of the Pet Loo, then remove it once your dog is comfortable using the Pet Loo.

Can I buy more than one and join them together?

Yes. This setup is perfect for multiple pets, very large pets, or pets who need extra room to circle before using the Pet Loo. The Pet Loo has been designed so that two or more units can easily be placed next to one another to create the feel of a park.

Can I move The Pet Loo around or does it have to stay in one place?

You may need to do this in the crucial training stage, but please note that although your dog may be using the Pet Loo confidently, a sudden change may be confusing. Make sure that if you are moving the location of The Pet Loo, that your dog is introduced to the Loo’s new position promptly and in a positive manner. The Pet Loo is suitable for indoor and outdoor use.

How often do I have to change the synthetic grass?

While we have gone to great strengths to make Pet Loo grasses as durable and tough as possible, Pet Loo Grass will need replacing over time. This will depend on how often you clean the Loo, how many dogs are using it, and the Loo’s positioning. Average use will require replacement grass every 6-12 months.

Is it okay if my pet sleeps and eats on the Pet Loo?

Any activity other than toileting should not take place on or near the Pet Loo. Pets generally don't like to use the bathroom where they eat or sleep. This is why crate training works for puppies. Feeding your pet by the Pet Loo could cause your pet to stop using it.

My puppy keeps chewing the synthetic grass and pulling it off the Pet Loo. What can I do?

We do not fasten the synthetic grass onto the base unit as the fasteners would act as a trap for bacteria. As a temporary solution, you can attach small velcro dots to the corners of the grass while your dog gets accustomed to the Loo.

The synthetic grass seems to be losing grass blades around the edge.

Pet Loo grasses do not have finished edges because it would be a trap for bacteria. If the mat is cut on the tuft, it is normal for the grass to shed at the edges, just as a new carpet would. This should stop over time and is nothing to worry about in terms of the product’s effectiveness.

Why is my Pet Loo starting to smell?

Although you may be following the cleaning instructions closely, every pet is different – and so is his pee! Age, gender, and diet all play vital roles in the waste your dog produces. So if you are finding that your Loo is starting to smell, consider a cleaning product such as Wee Care or Pet Pods.

Wee Care is an enzyme-based solution designed to eliminate unwanted odors from your pet’s waste. It works by breaking down the fatty particles and proteins found in waste. Wee Care, like our entire enzyme cleansing range, is chemical free and 100% safe for people, pets, and the environment.

The revolutionary Pee Pod is a biodegradable container that fits neatly inside the waste container of the Pet Loo. When your pet’s urine touches the Wee Sponge powder, it solidifies into a gel, trapping liquids and airborne odors. The Pee Pod can hold about 2 liters of liquid. Simply throw out the pod and replace it with a new one every few days.

My Pet Loo Replacement Grass does not fit the Pet Loo.

If you purchased one of the very original Pet Loos (circa 2006-2007), you will notice that it is 2 centimeters or less than an inch larger in both width and length. Replacement Grasses for these Loos are not always in stock at your local pet store. Call our Customer Care Center to request a special replacement.

    Need to upgrade grass

    By on

I purchased this product for use with 3, 10 week old puppies. They shredded the grass within 10 minutes. Luckily, I had some upgraded pet turf that I purchased elsewhere and was able to cut to size. The plastic frame is a little flimsy and cracked when I placed the clip on it, but otherwise I like the size and collection bin.

Great concept but not impressed with quality

    By on

Very glad I bought this, with winter weather and my dog hating snow and rain. Took her a bit to catch on, but she’s used it several times since when weather has been bad. Concept is great, wish the materials and grass mat were better quality. If I’m spending over $100 on an item it should be better made, and made out of more durable materials than this. Definitely overpriced for what you get, but out of the limited number of other options, this is one of the best IMO.

    poor design, very disappointed

    By on

Dog has been using turf on the balcony for months, switched to this one and he won’t use it. The clips won’t keep the mat down and since it dips down inside, he always stumbles when he tries to step on it. Now he’s just been going on the cement. I already through out the other mats he’s had too :/ very disappointing, I was looking forward for this! Waste of a LOT of money

Pet Loo Portable Indoor Dog Potty

    By on

This is an amazing purchase. My daughter has a puppy and lives in an apartment, so I got it for her so she doesn't have to go out in bad weather or at 2 a.m. when the puppy needs to go. He caught on within 2 days and she is very happy. I'm going to buy one for my dogs since it was so successful

    Greatest Product EVER!!!!!!

    By on

We have a new rescue dog who isn't able to use our backyard at night because we have late night visits from skunks and raccoons. The Pet Potty is in our garage and our dog uses it regularly. It's portable, easy to clean and a lifesaver for us! I highly recommend it!

    Outdoor Dog Potty

    By on

I ordered this because it was recommended for outdoors, so far that's been fine. I have 10 yr old ShihTzu who is partially blind, she seems to be have problems stepping up onto the platform, but on the other hand I love the ease of cleaning out the draw. I'm using crystal cat litter to absorb the urine, works great.

    Ok, but has some issues.

    By on

Overall, the thing is good. Not heavy, good size, made OK. Minus two, under my dog (95 lbs) the plastic flexes a bit when it's not worth it. But it does not matter, I have a really big and heavy dog. The main drawback-clips that should keep the grass and the lid together, do not hold them. The grass constantly gets out, moves out, it is necessary to correct. But this is a solvable problem.

    “Excellent pet bathroom”

    By on

Thus is the best one we’ve found and like it so much we bought two, one for balcony up north and one for our Florida porch. Design is quite ingenious with sloping tray into a small, easy access, slide out container. We started with the white powder suppliied and switched to micro kitty litter. (readily available and less expensive). Fake grass is easy to rinse/spray outside, or in laundry sink, everything else can be easily cleaned to keep hygienic and fresh.. Small size is perfect for our 7 1/2 lb Havanese. Note: Bottom is not totally flat but diesn’t seem to bother our puppy. Highly recommend. Janet, Toronto.

I love the Pet Loo! It's the answer!

    By on

I love Pet Loo! It really works! No more coming home to an unwanted mess! The pet loo does what the advertisement claims it will do! I have to work long hours, so I've been looking for a solution to the problem of having to leave my dog home alone for several hours and this is the answer! I'm amazed at how well the absorbent powder works in the tray! The powder really does absorb a large amount of fluid and it absorbs the odor too! Taking care of and cleaning the Pet Loo is easy! My dog and I are both much happier and are satisfied with the loo! Thank You! I would highly recommend it, and I have already recommended it to some friends.

Pup wants nothing to do with the loo

    By on

I'm giving this three stars because it seems like such a good idea, and there was really nothing wrong with it structurally. However, my puppy wouldn't use it. We have a large, but hardscaped, yard, so we bought this before we brought him home at 10 weeks because we thought it would be difficult to get him to want to use the gravel. However he refused to use the Pet Loo, even when we put him on it mid-accident. He would get off and finish his business on the gravel. A couple of weeks later, our pup is just about housebroken, but still wants nothing to do with the loo. It is significantly raised from the ground, which can be daunting for a little pup. Perhaps it is the feeling or smell of the fake grass? Maybe this is better for adult dogs or apartment dwellers? Having to purchase the solution that solidifies the pee is also not my favorite aspect of this. My housebreaking issues are over, but if I had to do it over and wanted the Pet Loo to work, I would start by just putting the grass on top of a puppy pad to get him used to the feel of the grass (and get his scent on it) before putting it on the base. … more
