As other reviews stated, the collar is way bigger than indicated in the measurements for each size. My 5 month old puppy has a 13" neck. I expect her to grow and get bigger, so I got the Large since 13" was included (13-20"). It's not even close when adjusted to the smallest size. It was HUGE! I just ordered a small though the measurements are smaller (9-11"), but sounds like the Medium will be too large as well. Hoping the small works.
Ordered the large which states is for 13-20 inch neck. I have a 73 # Golden Retriever, measured 20 inches. Adjusted to the smallest. Fit was still loose. No way this collar is for a smaller doggie neck. All reviews have the same complaint. Correct measurement to avoid unhappy customers and returns.
I bought 4 of these martingale collars for my 4 Shelties, one small and three medium, based on the measurement instructions. In fact, the medium size is completely too large for them. I recommend erring on the conservative measurement.
Received on Saturday, tried it on before we were leaving to take the dogs with us, WAY TOO BIG! Her neck measures at 17 loosely, so we got lg because it was stated 13 inches to 20, and even adjusted all the way she swims in it. How do we send back for a refund? We have the same collar purchased years ago for our older lab and it fit him fine.
This martingale is like a regular collar when the dog is relaxed, but should it start to pull the collar does tighten. And it has an easy clip buckle. Chewy also sells one without the buckle which I ordered by mistake. Order the buckled one.
Ordered the collar which was 3-4 inches too big based on the size chart. Contacted customer service who was very understanding and sent out the next smaller size, which was far too small for my pup. Donated both and ended up empty handed.
We have two collies and a pittie, so martingale collars are the way to go to ensure they don't slip their collar. I measured my pittie and ordered a large, even with the smallest adjustment he was swimming in it. Bought a medium and it's perfect. I like the little tab to put their ID tag, but when two of the dogs were rough housing that tab was pulled off the collar. Thankfully no one swallowed anything, and after that we removed their collars before playtime. The buckle makes that easy to do, and keeps the collars dry as the dogs just love to slobber on one another's heads and necks. Ew. But at least they're happy!
Our Rescueuses these collars for our foster puppies but it is important to adjust to fit properly. But even then if they are left on overnight the young puppies chew on them destroying many...
I found this collar to be a big improvement over the Martingale version I purchased more than decade ago. All the materials are unquestionably superior, the revised design of the new snap buckle makes it much easier to put on and take off from my Scottish Terrier and the dog definitely seems to find the collar more comfortable once I figured out how to adjust it! In addition the price is definitely right!
I recommend a martingale collar for any dogs that pull during their walks. This brand lasts a long time, one of my dogs has had the same PetSafe Martingale collar for more than two years and it's in great condition.
