Description

Simplify litter box maintenance and keep your home smelling fresh with ScoopFree Lavender Crystal Cat Litter Tray Refills. These convenient trays are specifically designed to work with the PetSafe ScoopFree Self-Cleaning Cat Litter Box, and because they’re completely disposable, you never have to see, touch or smell messy waste. Each tray is pre-filled with 4.5 pounds of ScoopFree’s purple crystals cat litter that features a soothing lavender scent to help control odor better than traditional clay or clumping litter. Simply replace the disposable tray every few weeks, and your ScoopFree cat litter box is just like new.

Key Benefits
  • Quickly absorbs urine and dries solid waste for superior odor control without clay.
  • Never see, touch or smell your kitty's waste–the leakproof tray and lid are completely disposable for quick, hygienic clean-up.
  • ScoopFree’s purple crystals feature a soothing lavender scent to help control tough litter box odors.
  • Low-tracking and 99% dust-free crystals won’t stick to kitty’s paws so your home stays clean and litter-free.
  • Designed for use in the PetSafe ScoopFree Self-Cleaning Cat Litter Box.
Precautions

Always wash your hands thoroughly after handling used cat litter, as cat feces may contain Toxoplasma gondii—a parasite that can cause toxoplasmosis. Pregnant or nursing women, as well as children and anyone with a weakened immune system, should avoid handling used cat litter. Always handle litter in a ventilated area to avoid inhalation. Keep contents and packaging out of reach of children and pets. Seek medical help in case of accidental ingestion.

Instructions
  • Your cat's age, health, and diet also affect her waste. You might need to replace the litter tray more often if your cat is under 6 months old, is over 10 years old, has health problems, or eats cat food high in crude fiber, ash, and byproducts.
  • Never add litter to your ScoopFree Litter Box or use another brand or type of litter. The crystal Litter in the disposable litter tray is formulated specially for ScoopFree litter boxes.
  • ScoopFree litter trays can be used by themselves as portable, disposable litter boxes when you're on the road with your cat. Manually scoop the waste under the waste trap flap or replace the tray when needed. Mix the litter daily to reduce odors.

Crystal Litter Maintenance

  • Place the ScoopFree litter box away from areas of high humidity, such as bathrooms, showers, and basements. Since the crystal litter controls odor by absorbing moisture, having extra moisture in the air will shorten the life of the tray. Try placing it in a room with moving air to pull away moisture, like a room with a fan.
  • If your cat consistently urinates in the same spot, try stirring the crystals occasionally to help distribute saturated crystals.
  • Cats with diets that are high in crude fiber and ash content will produce more solid waste, which can prematurely fill the waste trap. Consider changing your cat’s diet to a food with no byproducts or fillers.

Additional Instructions

  • Only dispose of used cat litter in trash. Do not flush, bury or dispose of it outdoors, in gutters or storm drains to avoid environmental contamination.
  • Not for internal use. Not meant for use as compost or as a traction aid.
  • Store in a cool, dry place. Product filled by weight; some settling may occur.

Transition Instructions

Most cats adapt easily to ScoopFree boxes and use it within a week. If your cat needs help adjusting, try these tips:

  • Leave your cat's old litter box next to the ScoopFree box.
  • Add a few handfuls of your cat’s old litter to the ScoopFree litter tray and add a few handfuls of the ScoopFree crystal litter in your cat's old litter box.
  • Stop cleaning the old litter box. As the old litter becomes more shallow and dirty, your cat should start using the cleaner ScoopFree box.
  • If your cat is startled by the raking noise, turn off the ScoopFree box and scoop waste manually for a few days until your cat is used to the new box.

If you have a kitten under 6 months old, we recommend leaving the box unplugged and scooping waste manually. You can start getting her used to using the litter box with these tips.

  • Kittens have a natural reflex to use the bathroom after eating, playing, or napping. Put your kitten in the litter box after these activities to help her associate the litter tray with the instinct.
  • Place the litter box away from the food and water bowl. Cats prefer not to use the bathroom near where they eat and drink.
  • Put the litter box in a quiet, visible place where she can get to it quickly. Getting all the way across the house to find the litter box could result in accidents. The location should also be safe and quiet so your kitten won't be startled or distracted.
  • Keep the box clean. Scoop waste often and change the litter tray every few weeks. Cats and kittens prefer a clean box.
  • Stir the litter crystals once a week to distribute saturated crystals. Kittens pee more often than adult cats, so the litter box will get dirty more quickly.
FAQ

What are ScoopFree litter crystals made of?

The blue crystal litter is made of a silica gel. The crystals are non-toxic and perfectly safe for people and animals if eaten accidentally. Silica gel is an inert substance that’s mined from the earth. A derivative of silica gel is used in many powered drinks and soups as an anti-clumping agent. If your pet eats a couple of crystals or small bites of litter, he should be perfectly fine. Just provide your pet with water. The crystals will pass through his system. However, you should make sure your pet doesn't eat a large amount of litter. Contact your vet if you notice any changes in your pet's behavior or health or if you suspect your pet has eaten more than a few bites of any type of litter at one time.If your dog often tries to eat your cat's litter, you can take extra steps to keep your dog out of the litter box.

Can I reuse the litter tray by throwing out the old litter and adding new litter?

Using the litter tray for more than 30 days per cat may result in urine leakage and tray breakage.

How big are the litter trays?

Litter trays are 22 x 14 1/2 x 2 1/2 inches. The usable litter bed area is 14 x 14 inches. ScoopFree Free litter trays do not include lids and can be nested, allowing them to be stored in a smaller space.

How do I change the litter tray?

When the litter is saturated or the waste trap is full, simply place the cover on the used litter tray and throw it away. Replace the used litter tray with a new one.

How can I make the trays last longer?

ScoopFree litter trays won't last forever, but each tray can give you up to 30 days of freshness without scooping. Have at least 1 litter box per cat. Many experts recommend having 1 litter box for every cat plus an additional litter box. 3 cats can use the same ScoopFree litter box, but you'll have to replace the trays more often and you might see litter box bullying.

Unhappy with the style of litter & the cost of litter refills!

    By on

This Cat Litter is WORSE than using regular cat sand! Cats are not supposed to be able to track the Crystals, but my cat is tracking them throughout the house. And then there's the cost of six (6) litter trays, they are OVER $100.00!! Who could continue to purchase these at that rate?? There is a good thing, the urine goes through the crystals to the bottom of the tray leaving the stool on top. That's about the only good thing I can say.

Terrible Product - Don't waste your money!!

    By on

This product is terrible! It does not trap smells at all. I have two small kittens in my home and had to use all 3 of my trays within a week! I ended up buying regular litter to supplement until I could order the regular blue crystals again. If I could give this product zero stars I would.

    Expensive in the long run?

    By on

I have had 4 days of bliss not having to scoop litter and the freshness of it. It has, however, changed on the 5th day. I have two kittens and it smells now and the scoop (er?) doesn't scoop well probably because the crystals are heavy? It is a perfect solution to dealing with cat litter but not if i will have to use one bag every week! I hope Chewy find a solution. I really loved the last 4 days!

The Blue is Better, But This Works in a Pinch

    By on

The blue I think does a better job containing the smell, but this does its job ok. They were out of the blue when I ordered, so I appreciate that at least I had an option of something to order. I would say if the blue is 10/10, the lavender is a 7/10.

    Expensive for what it is

    By on

This stuff is good for the first day or two. No odor. The packaging says this should last a minimum of 10 days for 2 cats. We couldn't get past 5 days before the smell became so bad we had to change it. I appreciate not having to clean the litter box every day but not for 3x the amount as a standard clumping litter and litter box.

    Hard litter!?

    By on

So my Aunt needed her cat litter refills and we had found chewy had them in bulk for a decent price and of course awesome delivery we decided to purchase them. When they arrived I had provided them to her and didn’t think to much about it well it’s been a few months and I visited my Aunt again and she explained that the 6 treys of the car litter were hard!? she described her cat barely being able to scoop and when the litter box would do it’s action it sounded like a rake going over sidewalk. I checked the others thinking it was one of the treys but all of them were hard. We have purchased these before individually and they’re just fine!! Possibly the bulks sit longer or moisture has gotten into So my Aunt needed her cat litter refills and we had found chewy had them in bulk for a decent price and of course awesome delivery we decided to purchase them. don’t buy these

    By on

I usually use the blue trays but thought I would give these a try since they were scented. ... I’m very disappointed with these. There is no smell what so ever. The blue ones had more of a smell and they are unscented.

    DECLINING IN RATINGS

    By on

I AGREE WITH THE SCENT NOT BEING AS GOOD AS IT WAS WHEN I FIRST STARTED USING IT. I DO PREFER LAVENDER (PURPLE) OVER THE BLUE. I WILL HAVE TO GO BACK TO CLAY LITTER IF THE CRYSTALS KEEP DECLINING...NOT LASTING AS LONG....AND SCENT DECLINE...AND I THEN DON’T HAVE TO ORDER FROM CHEWY ONLINE. IF THE RATINGS KEEP DECLINING, IT LOOKS LIKE CHEWY COULD LOSE A LOT OF PROFIT AND BUSINESS. I LIKE THE CONVENIENCE OF HAVING IT DELIVERED BUT I AM CLOSE TO SO MANY PET STORES, I COULD JUST AS EASILY GO TO ONE OF THEM. COME ON, CHEWY...SHAPE UP!

    Convenient

    By on

Easy to use. Remove used box. Put lid on the used box, seal with tape, then out to the trash. No mess. Open new box, open litter package, pour into box, put box in place. Done! Great idea!!
