I had bought this because I was working so many hours and didn't feel like spending my time off cleaning litter. Mu husband couldnt bend down and clean a regular litter box. I had it for about 8 years before the motor slowed down and wasn't cleaning as well. I would change it about once a month. If you don't want to scoop litter every day it is definitely worth it. Best investment I could have spent my money on.
I have one cat and the litter doesn’t last for 1 month. I find myself changing it every few weeks. Not only that but I have to wash the rake that scoops the poop because the poop sticks to it. I also find myself washing the sides. The only good thing about it is it was given to me(new in box) and I didn’t pay for it. The convenience does not outweigh the hassle of having to clean the rake and box weekly. Might go back to scooping or try a different system . The picture is only 2 weeks.
Product works exactly as described, replacement litter is a little pricey but you are paying for the convenience. I truly do not understand the negative reviews regarding quality of disposable litter box trays, if you are not happy with them there is a washable option available for purchase as well. I only wish that replacement power adapters were sold through Chewy as well (my cats eat everything! LOL).
This is a great litter box! Changing the litter once a month is sooo much better than scooping daily! Our cat likes this litter box better than the manual-scoop one we had before, and uses it consistently instead of having accidents elsewhere. This litter box lasted over 6 years before the motor finally konked out. We are ordering another one today!
We bought the hooded version of this for a single indoor cat. Unlike some of the whiners in other reviews, we couldn't be more pleased with the results and the cat seems to love it as well. Contrary to the instructions, we find we are able to house it in our master bath along with the auto feeder and water fountain with no issue. We have an adequite exhaust fan. The first couple of months, we changed it out every 30 days. The usage meter showed an average of two uses per day. Not once were we aware of any odor. So the next month we went out to 50 uses before we changed it. The rake is nearly silent and our curious cat parks herself by the front door to bid her poop a final adieu. We did adjust the autoship since we're exceeding longevity expectations of the litter product. If it quit tomorrow, I'd buy another one of these. Matter of fact, we just bought one for the shop cat. Alexa rules the roost here, but I can't justify the added expense of wifi. "Alexa, rake the litter box." I think not.
I absolutely love this litter box. My one year old cat took to this immediately. I did purchase the reusable tray. I have not had to change the litter for three weeks! There is absolutely no smell. I have cleaned the waste trap three times. Overall, I recommend this product and have already recommended it to my friend! So happy!
I had one of these and now I have 3 because they are everything they say they are (which is very rare!) The litter box is great at controlling odor. The cats love it. (they like to play with it sometimes). I only have to clean them out every 3 weeks or so compared to my regular litter boxes which must be emptied daily to say nothing of sanitizing them once a week. Since I have multiple cats, it makes my housekeeping much easier on a daily basis. I have a recurring order for new litter so that I do not have to go to the store to buy litter. I have nothing but positive feelings about this. The orignal litter box was purchased two years ago and works great still. It has a counter so I can see how often the kitties have used it, but I check it when it says it is time as sometimes the kitties just get in it to watch the rake and the counter only approximates the usage. But that is OK. Well worth the initial investment.
Six months ago, we adopted a pair of kittens and went from a two cat household to a four cat household overnight. We had two standard litterboxes and even with daily scooping, keeping them clean was a losing battle. My kittens started having a lot of accidents and we suspect there is one that is a picky little bugger who refused to use the box if he didn't think it was clean enough! My husband suggested trying a litter robot. So I did some online research, and the original scoop free litterbox was rated well and had a much lower price point than some of the other litter robots. I also purchased the reusable plastic tray kit, as the disposable litter trays are rather expensive. I use Pretty Litter, which is a crystal litter. I have not tried clay or clumping litter in the automatic litter box. We have been using the automatic litter box for about three months now and are very pleased with it. It is simple to clean and there are not a lot of moving parts to worry about. It is a very simple design. I've also really liked the reusable plastic tray, it still looks new and there have not been any stains or damage to it so far. Typically, every few days I flip the front guard up and use my litter scoop to clean out the waste receptacle in the front of the plastic tray. Bingo-Bango and we are good to go. Once the crystal litter becomes saturated, I just flip the box up, slide a trash bag under the tray and rake it out. Then I clean the plastic tray with soap and water. Then just slide the tray back into place and flip the box down. Finally I just dump in the clean litter. Much easier than the traditional litterbox routine. Probably the best $150 I've spent on my cats!
I have 2 of these with extra normal litter boxes. Absolutely not for multiple cat households. It's a horrible mess and it doesn't work properly. It's always stuck even when clean with new litter. It makes loud noise, and it doesn't last as long as traditional box litter. It would be perfect for maybe one cat, but for us it's just a constant mess. ☹️
We started with one and now have two for a two cat household and use them with reusable trays and Fresh Step scented crystals. They have made life much easier and the house smelling fresh. We opted for a second to allow for more time between changes as the trays last about 35 uses. The Natures Miracle litter wipes help to clean up and stuck on particles and urine residue as well as keeping the combs clean. So much easier and cleaner than scooping a dusty litter box. They are much more sanitary as the debris is always dried out and combed away so there is a clean box each use for the kitties. I do wish they made some kind of pad that would stick to the bottom of the reusable tray! Fingers crossed
