When your life revolves around napping in the sun, it's easy to add an extra pound or two. But the vets have spoken: 50% of American cats need to slim down! The PetSafe SlimCat Interactive Feeder lets your cat play away the pounds while working for his dinner or treats. Pack the SlimCat feeding ball with your fur baby's kibble, and it distributes an adjustable amount of food as your cat bats and pounces.
SlimCat can be used by all cats and particularly overweight cats can benefit from the interaction.
By providing smaller portions of food throughout the day, it helps to maintain optimum weight as well as improve your cat’s digestion.
Improves behavioral problems such as excessive meowing, scratching or aggression.
Holds 2/3 cup of dry food or treats.
Dishwasher safe, BPA-free plastic.

I love this item. It keeps Foster busy and he caught on very quickly. He still begs whenever I move anywhere near the kitchen or pet pantry but he definitely works this feeder for all it is worth. It also keeps him busy so my two meek Persians can eat in peace.
Too soon to see if it helps him lose that spare tire he is sporting.
Cats love the "food ball"
on Feb 25, 2019
My cats are not fat, but I bought this as a toy for when I'm not home. I like the idea, and I fill it the morning before I leave for work, but it doesn't roll enough to generate serious play. The cats still have to work for kibble, but they mostly sit in place and what they knock out of it. I was hoping for more ball movement and feline putsuit.
Prince did not interact

I could not get my cat to play with this ball. When I rolled it, he'd eat the treat that fell out, but he had no interest in making the ball roll for a treat. He loves other balls, but this one, he would not interact with at all. It might be the harder plastic used the make the ball. He prefers softer toys and balls.
One of the 2 best things....

....I have bought for my cat. It will hold a heaping half cup of kitty kibble. It is easy to adjust the size of the holes so that after the cat learns how the toy works (she bats it around, and as it rolls, the kibble falls out), you can make the holes smaller, therefore it will take longer for her to empty. The top screws down and locks, so it won't accidentally open, dumping all the kibble at once. It is large enough that I don't have to worry about my Siberian Huskies swallowing the toy (though they are outside when the cat is playing with this). I got the orange color===it is easy to find in dark corners or under furniture. Great value! (PS: my 2nd favorite cat toy purchase is the Kong inclined....I have bought for my cat. Another happy customer

Pearl loves to eat and this is a way to give her dry food so that she doesn't gobble it down. I like the adjustments so that I can control how hard it is for Pearl to get the food out.
Food gets everywhere
on Feb 25, 2019
I was hoping the product would be more challenging to get food out. My cat can easily knock the food out no matter how I adjust the ball. Cat food ends up everywhere when I use it.
Low quality item
on Dec 30, 2018
The piece that controls the size of the window openings broke on use number 2. It can still be used, but the window does not stay at the selected size allowing food to flow freely which defeats the purpose of the purchase. My cat uses the least amount of energy to move the ball around so it did not break from excessive force. Very disappointing quality.
Slows a Fast Eater
on Dec 4, 2018
I purchased this after trying the Northmate Catch Interactive Cat Feeder (which didn't work) to slow my overweight cat down when he eats. It worked. While he doesn't enjoy using it, he now finishes after his sister and doesn't get a chance to eat her food too. You can adjust the hole sizes so more or less food drops out. Being lazy, he uses his head to push it around to drop out the food, as that works better than when he bats it with his paws. Only issue is that obviously it gets rolled all around the floor so your cat will be eating food from the floor.
Keeping the cats busy
on Feb 21, 2019
Bought the ball as an interactive toy for the cats. They love to roll it around to get their little kibble throughout the day. Definitely keeps them active!
These are great!

I don't free feed my cats, they eat wet food in the morning and in the evening. I got these to leave out during the day and overnight. It keeps them occupied and prevents them from eating too fast. They are also dishwasher safe which is convenient. I originally bought 2 but ended up getting 2 more so I can have a couple extra filled and ready to go. One of my cats caught on pretty quickly, the other wasn't too happy having to do extra work but she's started using it. Very satisfied with this purchase!
