The PetSafe SSSCAT Deterrent Cat Spray easily protects indoor areas and objects from your pets. This unique spray uses motion-activated infrared to monitor movement up to 3 feet away. Instructions

How it Works:

  • Place the deterrent in the area you want your pet to avoid. Protect your kitchen counters, new furniture, and potted plants or keep pets away from the stairs or kid's room. Turn on the spray and wait a few seconds for the Motion Sensor to stabilize itself. When your pet comes near the area, the Motion Sensor will detects your pet's movement. Your pet will feel a quick burst of harmless yet annoying spray. Your pet will quickly learn to stay away from this area. Add multiple sprays to create multiple pet-free zones in your home.

Re-positioning the Locking Ring:

  • The locking ring is removable. To re position it, line up the curved notch on the locking ring with the tallest straight notch on the refill connection point and lock into place.

Locking the Unit to the Spray Can:

  • With the switch set to off ("O position), place the motion detector unit on top of the spray can and firmly slide down the locking ring until it clicks in place. To detach the motion detector unit, slide the locking ring up and pull the unit off the spray can.

    Worth it!!!!

These things are great, I have a cat that was a feral. She refuses to use a litter box and if door closed she can't use cat door, so she'll back up like a male and pee on anything. So pee'd on my electronic. So I bought several of these One spray scares her enough she never goes back, trying to get her in one spot where pee pad is. There are expensive, but buying one at a time. Placing through out the house until she only has one place left to pee, its working. Down to two rooms. Soon she will be subject to only that one spot. Only problem is I forget about them and continually scare myself. Wish the refills were cheaper. Its me walking by them that empting them. They Work great. They don't like it.

    By on

I bought this to keep our kittens off of the kitchen counter, especially since one of them jumps from the floor straight onto our flat-top stove. They definitely don't like the sound of it or getting sprayed. Like other reviewers have mentioned, you'll set it off walking by it, and it because difficult to use in high traffic areas while you are home. I turn it on in the kitchen when we are going to be gone. I've tried tinfoil on the counters, double-sided tape, and a static shock mat, and they all have their faults. This is the only thing I've found that works well for counters and actually startles the kittens enough to jump off.

    Worked for us

    By on

This worked after only one day to keep the cats off the kitchen island. Our kitchen island is 5 feet long, and we put it on the far end of it so the sensor would cover the whole island. It still goes off when we walk in front of the sensor 7-8 feet away. This was defeating the purpose because it would go off because of us and scare the cats who were no where near the counter. So we started turning if off when we weren't home. One can lasted us about a week, which is another complaint; paying 15 bucks for a can of air is insane! It worked, but it's pricey.

    Did the trick

    By on

Definitely helped keep my cat off the counter! It doesn't always go off, but it went off enough times, even when he wasn't in there, which made it seem even more menacing because he learned that it'd randomly go off and he shouldn't risk it. I'm surprised at how long the spray has lasted, but we did have to take apart the top and clean it after a week because it stopped working, but it went back to normal after that. I'm glad we have it, and combined with keeping anything of interest off the counter, he's finally learning to stay off!

The Only Thing That Stopped My Problem In Its Tracks

One day recently, my 9-year-old cat decided, apparently for no reason, to start peeing and pooing on one of my carpets in addition to the litter box. I suspect his previous owner didn't train him completely. The problem was behavioral and I needed a way to discourage him from the area, but I tried the following things and they didn't work: spreading catnip on the area, using enzymatic cleaners, washing the rug, replacing the rug with a new one, shouting "NO" whenever I caught him going near it, getting the rug wet (which didn't last for long because, of course, it dried off while I was at work and then he peed on it again), emptying an entire bottle of "No More Spraying" on the area... and pretty One day recently, my 9-year-old cat decided, apparently for no reason, to start peeing and pooing on one of my carpets in addition to the litter box. Then, I set this little baby up and aimed it so that he would set it off whenever he got on top of the rug but that I would narrowly miss it (most of the time)... not an easy feat considering the rug is in a high-traffic doorway. It seems to be working like a charm. Nothing else did a thing, but the unwanted behavior stopped as soon as this thing was functional. Thank you for a product that actually works! … more

    Working well for us!

We have an extremely intelligent bengal kitten. We knew when he got bigger and more confident, he would love climbing and jumping onto tables and counters to investigate all the exciting things us humans are doing up there. We bought this once he started jumping on the kitchen table/counters. The classic tricks of double-sided tape, citrus rinds and aluminum foil helped a lot to deter him but our kitten responds best to sound. The genius of this device is that it's consistent for you. Kitty learns "That table sprays that air at me and makes that hissing sound... I don't want to be up there!" Win win: He learns that's not a fun place and you're not a meany for ruining his fun! After all, YOU didn't spray him when he went up there, the "table" did! We move the device around as needed (coffee table, TV stand, desk etc.) and he has learned so quickly to avoid jumping on those spots. As many cat owners know, you cannot discipline cats. They won't make the connection between you spraying them with water and them being a cat and wanting to be up high. (Spraying with water is an old school "trick" which is an act of aggression from someone kitty is supposed to trust and it's simply not kind to an innocently curious feline.) You can redirect behaviors to appropriate places and cats can learn patterns. For redirecting jumping to high places: get a very tall, exciting cat tree or have a handy friend help you make one! For learning patterns/places to avoid: get this device! … more

The SSSCAT Deterrent works fantastic!! I put one on my couch and one on the floor going into my living room by a chair & the cats have not been peeing on the couch or chair in two weeks since I set them up. I saw this product on the Cat show by Jackson Gallaxy. It awesome. Too funny to see one of the cats walk by it.

    No impact at all.

    By on

I thought this would be my miracle solution to cats on the kitchen counter since the water bottle is very effective (when we are present). Nope. Set it up and watched my cats park in front of it while being sprayed over and over. I had to call it because I was concerned about them inhaling the spray.

    Awesome!!!

We had a problem with kitty scratching on the bedroom door at night waking us up several times. This product solved the problem the first night and has been a “dream” for the last two weeks. I highly recommend! I can remove the can during the day and kitty comes in freely but as soon as I put it in place by the door at night she stays away.

    Such a waste

    By on

I tried this product a long time ago and it actually was ok. The design of it now is not ok. It sucks. It's way picky about if it wants to spray it not spray. The sensor bounces off certain things and sprays from random reactions but won't spray with a cat sitting and touching it. Way too expensive and doesn't work.
