Why does my transmitter keeps beeping when turned on
Answer by ChewySep 09, 2019
There are 3 possible alarms that can happen when the transmitter is turned on. The first is for metal interference with anything metal or appliances within 5 feet of the transmitter. The second alarm is to signal power loss to the transmitter. The third alarm would be a single long continuous beep that signals the transmitter is failing and may need to be replaced.

I want my 3 dogs to be able to roam our backyard and swim in the lake. I also want to let them out the front or back doors and be able to access both areas without getting corrected. Is this possible? How does the additional transmitter work to allow more area?
Answer by ChewyOct 25, 2017
The receiver collars are waterproof so the dogs can swim with them. Also, they will be able to enter and leave the home without a correction but we do recommend they only have the collars on once they are outside. There are many electronics and large metal items within the home that can interrupt the signal getting to the collar so they should never have the collars on while in your house. However, you can combine up to 3 wireless transmitters total and their signals only need to overlap 30 feet. For example, if you use two transmitters and place them on opposite ends of the house then you will have a figure “8” shaped boundary. Using this method, if you were to combine 3 of our largest coverage transmitters (Stay+Play PIF00-12917) then the maximum coverage would be 2.25 acres. To use multiple transmitters sometimes you may need to house them in different buildings on the property. Please keep in mind that all of our wireless transmitters are neither waterproof nor weatherproof and must be housed indoors in a temperature controlled climate.

Does the signal radiate out in a spherical shape or a 2 dimensional circle? my property is sloped significantly so I want to make sure it will cover all of the yard even when there is a 12-15 foot elevation difference between my front and backyard.
Answer by ChewyAug 24, 2017
This product is more for flat terrain and slopes/elevation changes of more than 3-4 ft will not allow it to work properly. This is because it contains only a flat circular boundary.

My house is aluminum siding, how will that effect the function of the product?
Answer by ChewyApr 11, 2018
Large amounts of metal like this interfere with wireless signal and make the transmitters work harder than they should to get signal out around them, reducing the lifespan of the transmitters over time. Any type of metal roofing or siding, as well as metal near the transmitter at all will affect the signal.

Success for us

I live in a rural area, and my dogs love to be out running around. Unfortunately I have 1 that wants to chase cars, and other times they just are stubborn and don't want to come back to me. So I got this fence for my 2 mutts. It has been a few weeks now and we have had really good success. They can spend time outdoors and now Dinki has decided it is now worth it to go after any vehicles. We do not have any obstacles that would inhibit the unit from working, so there has been no issues there. We do live on a hill and the edge of the perimeter is a little odd shaped toward the bottom of the hill, but the dogs have figured that out already. The battery life on the collars has been great so far.

Too inconsistent

Wanted to like this and tried it out several different ways, but it was just too inconsistent to be useful. Set up exactly following directions, but sometimes it would go off before and sometimes after the spot it was supposed to. Sometimes when my dog crossed the zone, got the correction and then came back into her safe play zone, & I was praising her, it would just start beeping & shocking her! Talk about confusing! Gave it two stars because it came with everything and the directions were clear and the price was good. But sadly, it just doesn’t do the job. Maybe it’s because we have cars parked in the driveway (metal) or a slight slope in the back or several trees in the yard, but the signal was not reliable.

Don’t waste your money on this company!

Does not work long and company does not back their products!! Ours worked for three years then started making the loud beeping sound. The company said it is not transponding anymore and there is nothing they can do to fit it nor will they replace it because the warranty is expired. I would purchase from this company again!

Waste of money

As others have said this product is a waste of money. I have gone through all the troubleshooting steps and the boundary is severely inconsistent. When I put the flags in I followed the instructions to a “T”. The transmitter is not near any appliances or metal surfaces and yet the boundary is inconsistent ranging 20-25 feet off at any given moment. I purchased 3 collars for my dogs and none of them have the same boundary. Highly disappointed for such an expensive product. My dogs also are not getting correction other than sound even with the collar on its highest setting. I held the prongs myself on the highest setting on each collar and also felt nothing. Following the troubleshooting guidelines everything indicates it is working properly yet it is not.

Doesn't stop big pups

Bought for a new Golden Retriever. This did not stop him from running outside the zone to visit other dogs. He was ok taking the shock from the collar. This did not work after following all the training guidelines for the machine. I even cranked up the voltage and added longer tips to the collar and it still did not stop him.

Did Not Work for Our Yard

I waned this to work so bad and it worked great for about 95% of our yard. I moved it at least 10 times and walked the perimeter testing the collar many times per day. There is one section of our yard that is uphill and near the cars/garage that I just couldn't get to work consistently. Sadly that is part of the yard that we use the most often and is near the road and I can't risk her getting out. Sometimes it worked up there, sometimes it didn't. I suspect it's the hill and/or the metal in the cars and it depended on where we happened to park. Unfortunately, sometimes just isn't enough for a containment system. I hope they come up with a technology that is wireless someday but for now, I'll be getting a wired fence installed that I can count on.

Did not work for 100lb Great Pyrenees

Set this up by the book and it didn’t phase my 100 lb Great Pyrenees. Easy set up though. Maybe it would work for a smaller, less fluffy dog.

Unsure about the quality of this product.

I had an older version of this system and it worked great for over 15 years. This new one seems to work fine but at the higher settings for more distance the unit hums and gets unusually warm. The heat of the unit at the higher level makes me nervous for safety reasons so I turn it down whenever my dog comes in and up when she goes out, but then I worry my family members won't do the same so the dog will be confused as to where her boundary is. I'm very disappointed in the product. I called PetSafe customer service and they could not tell me whether the humming and heat was normal or not so I do not know if I should send it back as defective or just accept that this is as good as it will get.

Had been a great purchase until now

I purchased this system July 2019 with an additional collar purchased separately. It took a little while to set up the boundaries but wasn’t too difficult to figure out. Everything had been working pretty great until now. I noticed one of my dogs kept going past the set boundary. I checked her collar with the tester and sure enough it wasn’t working. It was all charged and should had been working but wouldn’t give her a correction. I consulted the manual and did some trouble shooting but nothing worked to fix the problem. I contacted Pet Safe customer service and they tried to trouble shoot the problem but nothing worked to fix the issue. So unfortunately since it was past the year factory warranty I had to purchase a brand new collar. Only having the system just over 2 years I didn’t like having to replace a collar. Especially since the collar was malfunctioning at no fault of my own and isn’t cheap to replace.

Doesn't fit cats as advertised

I bought this for my indoor/outdoor cat and it doesn't fit her or our larger cat. I can't imagine how large a cat would have to be for this to fit appropriately.
