A few years ago I used to buy these for my girl and they were her absolute favorite toys. But, the manufacturer switched the butterfly to hard plastic instead of feathers, and it's just not good. My kitty used to LOVE the feather toy; she would chase it for hours and bite it and enjoyed the feather texture. The plastic just is not the same for her. She will chase it but does not like to catch it in her mouth or paws. My 1-yr-old kitten (featured in the pic) enjoys it more, but he also seems to be careful catching it in his mouth & paws because it is made of a stiff uncomfortable plastic. I only bought this item because it said in the description that it was made of real feathers, not plastic. I got excited and thought that they'd gone back to the old feather version. It's a pricey toy anyway, and the fact that I didn't even get what I paid for really sucks. Pretty disappointed!
Miss Kitty loves the butterfly but it is on a very thin wire that I worry would cut her mouth or between her toes we still play carefully with it!
My cat would not play with this toy. Why does this review force me to add more content when there is noithing else to say?
It's made out of plastic, not the feather or natural material in the description. But my cat still really enjoys it. The wire helps with erratic movements; very butterfly like. Better than the motorized one, imho. My kitto likes to bite it, and I assume that's among the reasons why the makers of this toy decided to go with a more durable material. But I'd prefer to buy replacement butterflies (maybe in different colors?) than have my kitto chewing on hard plastic with fairly sharp edges.
I bought this toy for my cat a couple years ago for Christmas, she loved it so much and was always down to play with it. Unfortunately things got super rough and it broke. I'm so happy it's available on this website because she loves it just as much as she did before!
I’ve purchased this many times, they recently changed the material of the butterfly so now it lasts much longer than a couple hours haha! My cats love chasing it and the wire is great at making it life like and my calico can’t eat it (string apparently is her mortal enemy).
My cats LOVE this toy. They love it so much that we had to hide it when we went to bed so they wouldn't destroy it while we slept. They saw me hide it, so they sat next to the cabinet and made a ton of noise and didn't stop until I got it out. I would have given it 5 stars because of how much my cats LOVE this thing, but it lasted a DAY!!! ONE DAY!!!! I've had my 2 cats for just over a year and this is the first toy they've completely destroyed in one day. I'll definitely be purchasing more, but I wish it lasted longer or sold replacement butterflies! Also, the description really needs to be updated. The butterfly is made of plastic similar to Kodak film (anyone remember that stuff??), not feathers. The cats bit a hole in it right away.
My cat will hardly play with anything else. Even other wire type toys. This is her favorite. They last a few months and then I get a new one! I wish they just had a butterfly replacement because everything else holds up!
So! Let me explain this one to ya…first off it arrived in a 4 foot packaging tube with another dinky wand toy. Luckily chewy gave me money back for such atrocious packaging. Secondly, it’s a plastic butterfly that any kitten can chew on. Within a day it was already chewed up but still functioning as a fluttering sad piece of plastic. The cat loved it either way. Now just one month later the whole thing is apart. The little black plastic body is the only thing attached to this flimsy wire. And the cat managed to get the wire off the wand. I basically paid $10 for a plastic wand. Choose wisely.
I was so excited about this toy as my cats love anything with feathers. BUT this butterfly is plastic and flimsy. The wire was not long enough and the cats were scared of it when they tried to grab it. I will not be guying this again.
