    So far so good

By SydneyA on Jan 13, 2018

I have a german shepherd that cannot tolerate most foods. We have tried several brands. Best guess at this point is a chicken intolerance. I was glad to find this as most fish formulas seem to still have some form of chicken in them. I also really like the fact it has no peas/chick peas. I was glad to find this as most fish formulas seem to still have some form of chicken in them. I also really like the fact it has no peas/chick peas. We have only been using it for about a week now. We had to switch him instantly, as the last food he was on he started throwing it up after every feeding. He tolerated the switch very well. He did have a couple soft stools, but not diarrhea. That only lasted the first day. We feed him twice a day. He will beg for his food now. Personally I think it smells like cardboard, but I am not the one that has to eat it. His energy level is through the roof. If he continues to do well on it, I am planning to switch my other dogs over to it as well. … more

    Not so hot

By Christa on Mar 21, 2018

I think the packaging swayed me and the ingredients were decent. It was very dry, more so than other kibble I've purchased and my bf said it smelled like Lego's aka plastic. Yes, it didn't smell like fish but closer to a cardboard smell in my opinion. My dog had a hard time going to the bathroom unless I think the packaging swayed me and the ingredients were decent. My dog had a hard time going to the bathroom unless we added water or wet food. She actually wouldn't eat it if we didn't add something to it and she will usually eat anything any everything. … more

  • No grains, No peas

    By on Top 50 Contributor

And the dogs LOVE it. I had tried this food in the Venison and they Loved that too. This time the venison wasn't available which tends to be a problem, so I went with the whitefish. I have noticed since I started them on Pioneer grain-free that there is less waste, meaning smaller poops in the yard. They are regular but my 120lb dog used to leave HUGE dumps, now they are half the size and they love eating this food. It was easy to add it to the other food I give them, all with the same root ingredients only different proteins. It's working out very well. Please get the Venison and Pork ... we miss the venison and would like to the Pork but they are always out of stock. :(

  • So glad I found this food!

My rottie is allergic to chicken/poultry and is also a very picky eater. I do so much research before feeding my dog anything. The ingredient list is amazing and is also cost effective. Having a whitefish protein as the main ingredient he's soft shiny and far less shedding! I still add in additional fish oil daily but overall I'm really glad I found this. Thanks for offering such amazing food options for my fur babies

  • Perfect for my two!

I have a boxer/dane who has allergies to lamb and alfalfa (at least) and a rescued german shepherd service dog who itched with other foods. I was tired of putting her stomach through the motions of finding a food both could enjoy. Finally found this limited ingredient food that didn't have alfalfa! They love it and have filled out wonderfully. Definitely worth the price.

  • Perfect for dogs with allergies.

    By on

This food works well for all three of my dogs. It is very difficult to find food that does not contain chicken for my dog with a chicken allergy and one that is grain free and limited ingredient for my other dog with allergies. I love the fact that there are already freeze-dried ingredients in the kibble so I don't need to purchase a freeze-dried kibble topper and the fish oil, probiotics, GMO free, and hormone free features are an added bonus. The relatively high calorie content is perfect for my active service dog as well.

  • ALWAYS great products, service and nice people to deal with.

This is a class company to deal with. If a mistake is made (rarely) it is corrected IMMEDIATELY with few questions asked. I recommend them highly and they make my life easier. Carrying food for a 216 lb Dane, a Wireahair Ptr. and a cat has been eliminated! Thank you!

  • Perfect for allergies!

    By on

My dog is allergic to corn, rice, flax, barley, peas, and duck. This was the only kibble local to us that didn't have any of those ingredients in it. The dog food advisor rates it 5 stars as well. So we gave it a shot! We are also adding freeze dried raw to give him "a boost" of the good stuff. Our main goal was to get off the medication he's been on. It makes him sleepy and not like himself. We can't afford moving to raw at the moment so it was important for us to find a kibble that didn't have those ingredients to help him not itch until he's raw. VERY impressed with it so far. Poops are smaller and less smelly as well (which tells you it IS a high quality kibble). Give this food a shot if My dog is allergic to corn, rice, flax, barley, peas, and duck.
