Instructions

Filter cartridges should be changed every 2 - 4 weeks. Disassemble and clean the fountain once a week. Disassemble and clean the pump every two weeks. The fountain is dishwasher safe.

Pump Maintenance

Cleaning the pump is essential to the longevity of the fountain as well as the cleanliness of the water.

  1. Unplug the fountain.
  2. Remove the top bowl from the lower bowl.
  3. Unplug the power cord from the transformer.
  4. Remove the top cover of the pump housing and set aside.
  5. Gently lift the motor out of the cavity of pump housing. Suction cups on the bottom of the motor will hold it in place. A small amount of force may be necessary.
  6. Once the motor is out of the fountain, with your thumb and forefinger, gently squeeze on either side of the intake plate, and pull off. It may be necessary to insert a fingernail into the seam of the inlet plate to pry it open.
  7. Remove the stator by placing your finger nail under the small lip located on the narrow side of the tear drop shaped stator and pull out.
  8. Once the stator is removed you can also remove the impeller (three bladed propeller) which is held in place magnetically. To remove the impeller, use a fingernail to get under a blade and lift it out.
  9. Rinse well.
  10. Once the parts are clean you can reassemble the motor for use by replacing the impeller, stator and cover plate.

    Disappointed

    By on

When it worked it was great! I've had it for just about a month and last week the pump just stopped working out of the blue. I followed all of the instructions and guidelines and when you plug it in now you don't even get a sound! The pump is just dead! Pricey water bowl to not work :(

    Amazing Cat Fountain

    By on

I love it and my cats took to it quickly. My favorite part is that I can put it in the dishwasher.

    Underpowered pump

    By on

Although I like the design of this pet water fountain, it seems to me that the pump is a bit underpowered. The upper bowl fills but just enough to trickle over the outflow. I was expecting more of a bubbling up. I'm not sure if I would recommend this item.

Love the look, but not the quality.

I’ve now gone through 2 of these and both filter motors have failed and I’m done. PLEASE fix your product. If not...CHEWY, please remove this product from you website. Chewy is too much of a stand up company to accept this.

Looks beautiful, is large, silent, but needs constant cleaning!

    By on

I love so much about this bowl I really wished I could give a better review. It's beautiful! It's very large and amazingly silent!! The ceramic keeps the water cool. Unfortunately the motor is not very efficient. There is little to no circulation. The filters clog immediately. There is always fur and debris floating in it. The bowl becomes slimy if not cleaned daily and for such a big heavy bowl it's a waste of water and a strain plus taking the motor compartment etc apart each time is just too much. It would be better just to get a regular water bowl and save a ton of money. I really wanted to love this, with just a stronger motor and a bigger better filter it would be perfect. I have had it for quite awhile but after a month of constant cleaning, refilling it etc I removed the motor and have been using the big bottom bowl as a plain water bowl which is a waste. I am ready to replace it (was being stubborn due to the expense of it) as I have stated it really is too heavy to keep picking up and cleaning and big waste of water to dump out and refill so often. I am hopeful in the future they put out a revamped model with the changes needed!! But until then I am going to have to find something else. … more

    Beautiful bowl/bad design

    By on

While the black ceramic bowl is beautiful, the location of the pump causes the bowl to leak out on to the floor. Right now I use the ceramic bottom bowl to keep water but no longer offer the moving water so my cat does not like to drink out of it - the dogs don't care.

    Great filtering water dish

    By on

This water dish has been a great replacement for our other filtered water dish that died. We opted for a ceramic bowl this time as to have the weight to keep the bowl from moving when our dogs were drinking. The open bowl allows more than 1 dog to drink at a time (if they share) and is easy to see if more water is needed to be added. It's easy to take apart for cleaning (in the dishwasher) and also easy to put back together.

A Great Fountain - Large, Attractive and Quiet

    By on

After an unfortunate mishap with our previous ceramic fountain, I discovered this ceramic fountain as a replacement. I love it! The design is so much nicer than the one it replaced, having a nice huge bottom bowl area from which to drink, great pump flow, and very quiet. My previous fountain had a ceramic "bridge" which sat over the pump clamshell. One of my ten cats was so intent on sticking his nose under it and flipping it over, that I finally had to remove the bridge, leaving the unsightly clamshell exposed. That is no longer a problem with this design. The dome sits nicely over the clamshell in a position which does not invite the desire to flip it around. That is no longer a problem with this design. The dome sits nicely over the clamshell in a position which does not invite the desire to flip it around. The directions say to run the pump at the medium setting, however with our water pressure, I found that running it on high was better; it kept a nice flow without overflowing. I keep multiple water sources throughout the house to encourage drinking, 5 stainless bowls on multiple levels, a stainless ice bucket for those who prefer drinking from a taller container, and the ceramic fountain. Not all use the fountain, maybe 5 out of the 10. One is so mesmerized by this one that he will sit and just stare at it with fascination when he's not drinking from it. I clean the fountain once a week, topping off the water as necessary. With my previous one, by the end of the week, the water flow rate always decreased. Not a problem with this one; the water flow remains constant all week long. I purchased the black version of this fountain and it's very attractive. If you have just one cat, this fountain would be definitely too large, but for a multiple cat household, it is a wonderful water source. … more

    Beautiful ceramic fixture

    By on

Holds a large amount of water. Mechanics are a little cheesy. Clamshell that covers pump does not stay closed. Does not keep water clean. Dog thinks it is okay. I put it outside. Birds like it a lot better.
