For cats, many want an actual stream of water, not just wiggling water that scares them. This doesn't provide that stream. Some reviewers are saying the pump is weak, but the problem is actually that there is not a tight seal between the pump spout and the pump housing spout, so the water pressure gets diffused. Also, the pump housing doesn't stay closed, rendering the filter somewhat ineffective. I opted to ditch the filter and just replace water more often, and added a piece of a silicone straw (yes, the cheap ones you can get at big box stores) to channel the water up and creat a fountain stream. This stainless steel bowl with a gentle fountain- more like a waterfall- is perfect for my parakeet’s bath. I set it on a warming pad, designed for sprouting seedlings, and leave it out for her so she can bathe in fresh water whenever she likes. Non-slip material and several flat stones in the base allow her to stand in the shallow area, or she can spread her wings and splash where it is deeper. The gentle flow of fresh water is great, as she likes to drink from her bath water. Stainless steel is non-porous, easy to clean and reflective- making it perfect for this unintended use. I’m sure this would be great for dogs, and maybe cats- although it’s probably a little large for cats. We bought this because our cat kept dragging the water bowl around the kitchen leaving our floor wet all the time. We have 2 pitbulls, a pit/chihuahua mix and 2 cats so we need a big water bowl. This is the perfect size for our herd and Houdini has stopped dragging the bowl around; he now drinks directly out of the fountain. It took us some time to get it working. There's a small slider on the actual pump that controls how much is pumped, it needs to be turned up for it to work. My husband is pretty handy and got annoyed fussing with it. After reading reviews I learned that the control needs turned up. Since then it's been great!

I don’t like the way it is engineered. I know, it’s a pet fountain bowl ! Lol. I , after two weeks, through the water filter and the plastic housing that contains the minute water pump. I found it difficult to realign after taking it apart and washing. So now I have a big semi stainless water bowl. I put a rigid straw in the outlet of the pump. Now I just put the pump in, thread it through the fountain and everything is much easier. Now I’m a electrician. Please Do Not Modify your water fountain. You could allow 110 volt power to the bowl.

I was so excited to purchase this fountain for my cats/dogs. I had researched & hunted and decided on the stainless steel as a healthier choice for my pets. (Plastics harbor bacteria. harder to keep clean etc) Received my Pioneer Big Max & read the directions for set up....added water, plugged in and it did not fountain. I was disappointed. I called Chewy and could not be more satisfied with the customer service! It was not working because of the set up mode the directions told me to adjust it on. I switched it to a higher adjustment and it is still not a gushing fountain but it does circulate the water so....it will have to do! Pioneer Pet needs to fix their directions!! I have an 85lb hound dog who drools a lot and 3 adult cats, all of them love this fountain. The size is perfect for a large dog and the cats love playing with the water and can drink comfortably from the top and bottom bowls. It is very easy to assemble and clean and holds enough water that you dont have to refill every single day. Would definitely recommend for anyone who is looking for a fountain for a multiple pet household.

We have a 70lb dog and a 10lb cat. We started with the cheap little plastic fountain and it was fine, but had to be filled often or it would make a horrible sound. When i saw this fountain on sale, i bought it immediately. The critters love the fresh water and we love that its easier to see the water level to know when it needs refilled and doesnt need filled quite as often. Also love that the stainless steel parts can be thrown in the dishwasher.

Wanted a stainless steel drinking fountain other than plastic. I have a cat with allergies, and we have tried a lot changes in food, bowls, and you name it. This fountain was not quiet at first, and maybe this was due to the water being adjusted to high to were it was like a loud brook. It even keep me awake for some time also. My husband figured out that you can adjust the water output, and now it just slowly comes up and rolls down the edge. Way more quiet now, and not so scary for my cats. Now even I can sleep at night! So, we bought 3 of these fountains and placed them in each of their own rooms. It is perfect for my little sweet hearts.

Its pretty tricky to make sure everything lines up right, and I've had this for 6 MONTHS now and it still takes me a few tries.. And I had to add a small o-ring to the motor to actually give it enough connection to push water out of the top. Before the o-ring, there was so much gap between the motor connection and the motor housing (white part) that the motor was just recycling the same water within the housing and not pushing it out towards the fountain peice. Its a neat little fountain, quiet, and our cats love it. Its just a bit of a pain sometimes. Not sure I would recommend unless you're okay working on things you buy brand new to get them to work.

I could not have asked for anything better. This is my third Dog Fountain and my first all Stainless Steel one. I would so recommend this over my past plastic fountains. This product is so easy to clean, set up and use. The fountain is also very easy to refill. Just one recommendation, buy extra filters so you will have extra on hand when you need them. Love it Love it Love it.........
