Can it run without a filter? I use RO water...clean 2 times a day. I just need motion.

This product can be run without the filter, but we recommend to change the water every few days to avoid any major bacteria or hair build up to prevent damage to the motor.
Does this pump have an auto shut off function so if you aren't home, and the water gets low, the pump shuts off instead of burning out?

This fountain does not have an auto shut off feature.
Is the entire unit stainless steel? My cat is allergic to plastic.

While the bowl and basin of the fountain are made of stainless steel, parts such as the pump, pump filter housing, and power cord are made or covered with plastic coating.

Great product, big for cats tho

This fountain is great. The filter keeps the water pretty clear (at least while family new), and the stainless steel is really easy the clean. The design is also simple which makes cleaning easy (my previous found had lots of little pieces with books and crannies that grew slime and I could never get clean). The only downside is I bought this for my cats, but the bowl is about a foot in diameter! I didn't really look at the dimensions when I bought it. The box has picture of a dog but I didn't see a picture of the box online. I bought a big one so I didn't have to refill as often, but the instructions say to refill after the water line goes an inch below the edge (I have let it go further but it hasn't broken the pump...yet). The large size means my cats just drink from the bowl sinc they can't reach the falling water from the fountain very well. Overall great product, but I would recommend the smaller size of this brand for cats.

would buy again

Fountain is quiet, runs well, holds a nice amount of water. Changing the water flow is so simple. It's EASY to clean and put back together. I've had fountains before and this is definitely my favorite. I've had it running for about 2 weeks. If anything changes, I will update this post.

Works great for 11 cats! EASY to clean!

I don't understand these one star reviews at all. This is the main water source for our 11 cats. We change the filter and clean it thoroughly monthly and the water stays fresh for the full month. At the highest speed the water bubbles a bit like a drinking fountain but doesn't percolate enough to splash or make an arching stream of water. I like that. Doesn't scare the cats or make a mess. Holds about 3 quarts of water which is also fantastic. You can't let it get below 2.5 quarts or air gets in the pump which means for 11 cats, I top it about once a day or once every 36 hours. It's so easy to use. Would definitely buy it again. VERY EASY to clean. And it's stainless which means I don't have to worry about chin acne. This one replaced a plastic one and I haven't looked back. Wonderful for cats.

great product

This is a great fountain water dish! I have 4 dogs that use it all the time. It is easy to clean! I do not use the carbon filter because that gets dirty and smells after awhile, the reason for that is I change the water frequently. One of my dogs is a large golden, she is a messy drinker. This is a good, clean fountain.

Terrible purchase

Bought this as my German Shepard was sick and thought the movement would encourage him to drink. He loves the fountain and fresh water however we have had to replace the pump after a few months it is loud and stops working if the dish is less than half full the charcoal filters only last a few weeks and need to be replaced not once a month like package says water will get slimy and cartridges smell bad cleaning is difficult as the power cord is under the water and attached to the pump just to rinse and refill is a project not to mention if the cover is not exactly aligned with the pump it will not work very poor design very disappointed and since my GSD loves the moving water have been in search of a stainless steel replacement

Good fountain, bad pump

This is one of several water fountains I've purchased for my pets over the last several years, and I faced the same issue with this one as I have with the rest - the pump craps out after only a few months. My pets actually really liked this fountain, so I was bummed when it stopped working. Now we're just using the base as a large water bowl. I have had better luck with PetSafe brand fountains, but wanted to try a stainless steel one for hygiene purposes. I'll definitely be going back to PetSafe.

Not good for multiple pets

This product MAY be better for single cat/ small dog homes. If the water level is even at half it stops flowing and is fairly loud. With 3 cats and a dog I thought the nice large bowl would work well but I find myself refilling it 3-4x a day - more than just filling their normal bowls. Maybe I missed the recommendation and it is for single pets only but it just seems like more of a hassle with multiples.

This water fountain makes an incredible noise when water gets low. I bought it for my granddogs for Christmas. I will be replacing it with something different

Fountain for our cat

Our cat didn't like drinking water from a bowl. I bought the fountain and it took him a bit to warm up to it. He now likes it and it stores plenty of water for him for days. I like how the stainless steel cleans, the only downside is the pump can be hard to reassemble at times. We clean every few days and it looks just like it did when it arrived.
