Mostly dusty and not very stratified.

I bought this because I thought the strata would look cool in my aquarium. I knew it was more than I needed but I figured I'd have a selection. Not the case - only three of the rocks had any noticeable strata and the rest are just rough hewn and messy looking. I guess I can put them in my garden as backfill? That's about all they're good for, but it's an awful lot of money to spend on that.

I ordered 2 13# bags of strata stone,the first bag contained 20-25 small stones only 2 stones were over 5" long.good for a 10 gal aquarium.the second bag was a little better with a few 8" stones but not what was shown on the web site. sending them back

Large pieces, pretty golden color

You get quite a bit of rock in this bag and there was a mix of large and small pieces, though some of the large pieces are very large. This is probably not the best for a small to medium sized tank unless you are willing to break up some of the larger pieces. The one really large piece I got is way too big to put in my tank. I don't have the heart to break it up though--it's a beautiful piece of rock. I may just end up using the smaller pieces and save the larger ones for a different purpose. Several of the pieces were long and flat and didn't really seem to have the same ridged or layered texture that the product photo showed, though the other pieces did look like the photo.
