About This Item

  • All moisture is drawn to the pad's paper backing, which gives your chicken a clean, dry surface to lay her eggs.
  • The soft, cozy pads encourage your hens to lay eggs in one place, making egg collection even quicker!
  • Wood shavings on top are designed to be nuzzled and nested in, but the pads won't lose their shape—no matter how comfy your hen gets.
  • Completely biodegradable and sustainable, they can be safely composted after your hen is done nesting.
  • Cushioned surface gives your chicken a comfortable nesting place while protecting her eggs from breaking.

How often do these need to be changed out?
Answer by ChewyAug 08, 2020
Some pet parents have reported being able to use the same pad for 3-6 months, while others replace them every 4-8 weeks. It does depend on your chickens and how destructive they can be.

Can I use them for my pet ring-necked doves?
Answer by ChewySep 18, 2019
This nesting pad is suitable for doves.

My chickens tend to use some nesting boxes for pooping in. Will their poop fall through the material to the liner on the bottom? Or will it just dry and pile up?
Answer by ChewySep 19, 2019
These pads feature unique, absorbing technology that pulls moisture into a liner below. Solids will fall through and can be shaken out later.

would these be suitable for cockatiels and similar sized parrots?
Answer by ChewyOct 23, 2019
While designed for chickens, these pads can be used for other birds if you wish.

Not the same quality.

I have bought these for 5 years and loved them. I just opened my new package and the quality was extremely disappointing. They are so thin, there was no fluffing up like normal. The price increased but the product is unusable. I will not buy again.

I like the product, so do hens

The pads fill the nest boxes nice, and the hens cannot kick it out as easily as they do hay. However the package said 10 and there were only 9

these WERE awesome

These used to be the best now they are terrible! So thin, chickens scratch through almost immediately.

Nesting Pads

These work great. I just wish they came in a better package. Once you take one out, the rest shed everywhere. But cant complain about the product itself.

Nesting Pads

I have 60 or so girls and I love these pads and wish I had known of them before, they have greatly reduced my egg cleaning time, easy easy easy to use! And Yes, leave the paper on as it is part of the pad and goes on the bottom. One of my girls also would kick out nesting material but not these. She tried but they have remained in place for everyone else to use. And Im thinking I no longer need straw, just layer of wood chips or not and the pads...

Thanks to these I don’t wash eggs!

I was new to chickens this year and bought these on a whim to try them. Now I’m hooked! Keeps our eggs perfectly clean and hens happy. When the pads get pooped on them or too torn up from nesting chickens the clean up and change out is ridiculously easy. I thought maybe these were just a first time chicken owner gimmick, but I’ve been convinced I need these.

My girls love these

Not as messy and my girls took right to them! Seem to last even with all the scratching

Love these!

Just love these nesting box pads. My 10 hens lay in them without any issue. They keep the eggs safe until I get around to collect. And I love how easy they clean up! I just put them in, fluff them up a little, hens do the rest of the nesting. Great product.

Hens take time to adjust

We have a small flock of 7 hens and no roosters. We were having trouble with the hens scratching the straw out of the nest boxes. When I first added the pads, I put a small amount of straw on top. The hens did not like that change and began laying on the floor. Once I added a large amount of straw on top of the pads, the hens moved back to the nest boxes. They still scratch out the straw, but now they are unable to scratch to the bare wood, and the pads on bottom provide a safe space for the eggs.
