Made the difference in my IBD kitty

After a year of struggling with IBD in my sweet little rescue kitty I tried a new vet. He immediately put Lucy on 0.3ml per day of this brand Prednisolone. She improved dramatically and has remained healthy and happy for more than two years. We have reduced her dose first to every other day, then to just twice a week. We are also careful with her diet. So happy!

Doctor recommended

An 1/8 of the medicine costs $37.00! A full bottle will probably last me a year and all the money I will save! My cat Jax needs prednisone daily for his oral inflammation so thank you Chewy for such a discounted cost on this medication.

Awful product

Chewy still refuses to post my review. My cat despises this medication. The cherry flavor disgusts him, and he won't to eat food afterwards due to the horrible taste despite needing to give this to him with food. He gags, fights, and froths at the mouth desiring to spit this out. Good luck if you purchase this as your life, as well as your cat's, will change.

Awful & not worth it

Why is this cherry flavored for cats? My cat wretches at each drop, and I've lost massive ground getting him to take this medication after switching from the previous compounded one he didn't mind. My cat has also begun throwing up again (3 times so far) after switching to this, yet he hadn't thrown up during the previous two months. Waste of money.

Disgusting

It smells like the worst medicine you had as a child, and my cat, who was content with the last prednisolone, gags repeatedly with this brand. Massive setback in feeding medicine. Waste of my money.

For people having trouble getting their cat to take this

I’ve been giving this medicine to my cat for about a year. Of course they don’t like taking it, I wouldn’t mix it with food because I don’t trust that they will eat it. If you have trouble with getting your cat to take the medicine in their food or they spit it out, grab your kitty by the head with your thumb and forefinger firmly but not too hard on either side of their cheekbones and tilt their head back, they will open their mouth as a response, if the don’t then it is still easier to get the tip of the syringe in and get them to take the medicine this way, and you can then squirt the liquid into the cheek/corner of their mouth so that they swallow but don’t choke. I have found this to be the most effective, fastest, and least stressful way to give any oral liquid medication to my kitties, they will get used to it over time and not seven struggle. Side tip, this may be different for other cats but try just grabbing the head, and not backing them into a corner or making them feel restricted, they may squirm but if you have a firm grip on the head and don’t panic you should be perfectly fine without the added stress of making your cat feel constricted. My cats panic if they feel held down or restricted in any way
