Prednisone is a steroid hormone used to treat dogs with inflammation that stems from allergies, arthritis or other diseases such as Addison's. This corticosteroid can also help reduce the pain associated with inflammation. This highly effective steroid comes in multiple doses, and the uncoated oral tablets can be personalized to fit your pet's exact needs. Customers may receive this drug under the name PrednisTab.

Proudly sourced directly from the manufacturer or their approved distributor. Guaranteed genuine and backed by the manufacturer.

Prednisone is indicated for the treatment of multiple conditions including adrenal insufficiency (Addison's disease); inflammation; autoimmune diseases, such as lupus, pemphigus, and some anemias; allergies including atopy; asthma; some cancers; and certain types of colitis and kidney diseases (nephrotic syndrome).

Possible Side Effects

Possible side effects include stomach upset and increased thirst, urination and/or appetite. Other adverse reactions include hair thinning, fatigue, muscle weakness, high blood pressure, sudden weight gain and panting. Extended use may induce diabetes or Cushings disease. Contact your vet immediately if you notice any strange behaviors or symptoms after administering Prednisone.

Drug & Food Interactions

Many medications may interact with Prednisone or lessen/change its effects. Talk to your vet about all other medications and supplements your pet is taking prior to administering Prednisone.

The lowest possible dose of corticosteroids should be used to control the condition under treatment. When reduction in dosage is possible, the reduction should be gradual. Since complications of treatment with glucocorticoids are dependent on the size of the dose and the duration of treatment, a risk/benefit decision must be made in each individual case as to dose and duration of treatment and as to whether daily or intermittent therapy should be used. Kaposi’s sarcoma has been reported to occur in patients receiving corticosteroid therapy, most often for chronic conditions. Discontinuation of corticosteroids may result in clinical improvement

What is Prednisone?

This is an oral medication that reduces inflammation in the body and causes suppression of the immune system when needed.

What are the benefits of Prednisone?

Highly effective. Multiple strengths available. Oral doses can be personalized to fit your individual pet's needs.

How is this medication given?

It is imperative that you give this medication exactly as prescribed by your veterinarian. It is often recommended to start at a higher dose and decrease the dose gradually.

Give Prednisone by mouth (orally). Try to give with food in order to avoid stomach upset.

Never stop this medication abruptly unless your veterinarian instructs you to do so.

Only give this Prednisone to the pet it has been prescribed for. Contact your veterinarian if you have questions about how to use this medication properly.

How does this medication work?

Prednisone can target almost every body system as necessary. Prednisone is a corticosteroid medication that blocks the inflammatory pathways and ultimately the production of substances that trigger allergies and inflammation. At higher doses, Prednisone can cause suppression of the immune system by decreasing the number of cells necessary for a proper immune response.

What results can I expect?

Inflammation and allergies should subside within several days when Prednisone is used. Cancers and autoimmune diseases are more difficult to treat and results may take longer. If medication is stopped abruptly, symptoms can return or worsen.
