Good travel cage

This has been a good travel cage. Nice that it folds for storage, though I don’t love the metal rings all over the cage for this purpose. My water bowl got some rust on it almost immediately but I contacted Prevue and they kindly sent me a replacement since I was in the warranty period. It’s fairly easy to clean, your bird can’t get in their poop at the bottom, and the bowls are a nice size. I do wish it was a little wider, but it has served me well and it is very lightweight.

Very Disappointed

The last thing I wanted to do was write a negative review, but felt in addition to informing Chewy directly, it was important for people to know about my experience with this product. After opening the box and putting the cage together, I was overwhelmingly disappointed and concerned about the quality and safety of the cage. After securing each of the sides, I tried to open the door. The hinges were covered in thick white paint and would not budge with a gentle pull. I had to tug harder before the door would open, which resulted in chipped paint at each hinge, leaving exposed metal. Someone had asked a question about the materials used to make the cage, and the answer was "non-toxic, powder-coated steel mesh". I have since learned that powder coating is apparently tougher than conventional paint, so it should not have chipped off so easily. I could only assume that when my Senegal parrot grabbed onto the bars, the same thing might happen. The other notable safety issue involved the metal clips that are found along the top and bottom sides of the cage. Each one was sharp to the touch, either because of the metal itself or due to pieces of hardened glue used to seal the clips shut. Again, I would not want my parrot to put his tongue or beak onto those clips or chew on the hardened glue. Although one of the round cup holders was bent, they are designed to prevent the bird from pulling or pushing the metal cups up and out of the ring. This was a very positive feature that I did not see outlined in the description. Although disappointed with this product, I will continue to be a loyal Chewy customer. They stand behind everything they sell, offer quality products at reasonable prices, deliver much faster than other companies and provide exceptional customer service.

Won't Last Long

I've owned this cage for 5-6 years. I've only used it for vet visits and hosing sick birds, and it has started to rust where paint is chipping off. I was convinced that this metal was white and not painted since paint chips are toxic to birds, and so is rust. It's very disappointing. An added addition is that I adopted a new bird and used this cage to bring her home. At home, she nearly slid through the bars. If you have a budgie, or a bird of simular or smaller size, do not get this cage! I will be retiering it for now and only will be using it for an emergency woth my English budgie who is too bug to escape.
