Description

Primor is a broad-spectrum antibiotic combination prescribed by vets to treat bacterial infections in dogs. It treats skin and soft-tissue infections, such as wounds and abscesses, and may also be effective against urinary tract infections caused by bacteria. It comes in a tablet, so you can feed it orally or slip it into a pill pocket to excite your furry friend.

Uses

Primor is for the treatment of skin and soft tissue infections (wounds and abscesses) in dogs caused by strains of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli and urinary tract infections.

Possible Side Effects

Primor should not be used in dogs showing marked liver parenchymal damage, blood dyscrasias, or in those with a history of sulfonamide hypersensitivity.

Drug & Food Interactions

Primor should not be used in dogs showing marked liver parenchymal damage, blood dyscrasias, or in those with a history of sulfonamide hypersensitivity.

Precautions

Decreased water consumption and aciduria enhance the probability of the formation of sulfonamide crystals in the urine. Monitoring urine samples for crystal formation is recommended from animals with acid urine receiving the drug. As with any sulfonamide therapy, make certain dogs maintain adequate water intake. If dogs show no improvement within 2 or 3 days, reevaluate the diagnosis. Safety in breeding dogs has not been established.

    Miracle Drug!

    By on

Our pbgv is cured thanks to Primor, a strong antibiotic, one of few recommended for E. coli. Our pet has been plagued with bladder stones and infection; she’s been on numerous medical diets and medications; had three surgeries, but the Primor has given her the cleanest, debris-free bladder and cured her of the E. coli. She is also on a Royal Canin hydrolized protein diet, a probiotic, and spring water, but all seem to be working to make her a healthy senior dog.
