It is so helpful to have this on hand at home. It saves me thousands of dollars. I had to take my kitty to the emergency twice to get an enema. They insisted on running $$$$$$ yeasts each time and then administers the $5 enema as I had requested. So nice to have this at home for the problem that pops up about annually. Easier for both me and my kitty.
Gave this to our 10lbs cat with constipation issues that initially was controlled with diet changes. It's been worse and he couldn't go so gave this a try after having relief from a different enema given at the vet a month earlier (very expensive). I've worked with animals in the past so it wasn't my first time giving an enema (just first time with my cat). Only gave half (lost the rest trying to give it) and initially provided relief but then straining again a few hours later. Took him to the vet again and this time his blood sodium level was high due to the enema. If we had accidentally given the whole thing, it could have been much worse and potentially kill him. Our vet recommended diluted mineral oil instead and to never use this product again. Please don't make this mistake like I did, it's worth the expensive vet visit.
Although it was somewhat traumatic administering this product (for both my car and myself), PRN Pharmacal Pet-Ema Medication for Constipation for Dogs & Cats worked as promised and my baby had a bowel movement within five minutes of me giving her the product. It helped her feel more comfortable and have a smoother bowel movement. Please be advised that this product is no substitute for a visit to the veterinarian but rather a fix for occasional constipation.
My cat can’t poop on her own. I have developed a routine of enema every 5 days that has literally saved my cats life. She has lived over a year with this routine. Please get it back in stock soon. Her life depends on it!!!
I have a lot of cats and buy this product in bulk. I administer a little at a time, 1/4 of a tube. Of course the cats don’t like it, but it works. If I was wrong and the cat wasn’t constipated after all, it’s not a life or death emergency. The cats that need it the most are usually overweight.
My cat has suffered from constipation on two occasions now. The first one I had no idea about until it was too late (he goes outside some during the day and usually poops out there and not in his litter box...that's why I didn't notice right away) and I had to take him to the emergency vet for a VERY costly ($4k) deobstipation! I was afraid he would develop megacolon as a result...but thankfully, he did not. He now gets prescription food and Miralax on his wet food daily. About a week ago I noticed he was having trouble pooping. I immediately got scared! There was no way I had enough savings for him to have another deobstipation! I watched him for a couple of days and knew I had to do something since he still hadn't pooped. Enter this amazing product! I was looking for a good/safe pet enema and came across this one and started reading through the reviews. I had also seen this product used by vets in a couple of videos on YouTube. I decided to give it a try and I'm soooo glad I did! This got to me in about a day and a half...so thanks to Chewy for the super fast shipping! When it arrived I was already prepared to administer it to my poor kitty. I recommend doing this in a bathroom because it can be very messy! It also helps to have someone help you by holding your cat while you administer the enema. Wrapping them in a towel works great. Make sure you lubricate the tip very well as it is a bit larger than the line type ones. I had no problems inserting, just remember to go very slowly!! I only gave my cat 1/3 dose. I removed part of the label and marked the syringe so I wouldn't give him too much. I definitely would NOT give this whole tube to a cat or very small dog. I think that would be way too much! Also, watch your cat VERY closely and do not let them lick their behind! If they get any of this in their mouth they will vomit! It only took a few minutes and he was straining to get some out. Only a couple of small balls came at first. It took almost an hour for the bigger ones to start coming out. It also makes the poop very sludgy and runny, so be prepared for your cats fur on their behind, tail and back legs to get reallllly messy! After he got another big piece out, nothing came out again until bed...and so far he has pooped two more times and it was soft and normal. I don't have the words to say how relieved I am that this worked and saved my cats life! I'm so thankful for this enema and will always keep a couple on hand from now on! I hope this review is helpful to someone going through this scary time. This enema works amazingly and my cat is feeling so much better today...we are both very happy! <3 <^..^> <3
By the time you’re buying a enema for a pet, it’s probably a last-ditch effort & constipation has been a problem for awhile. This is more a review for Chewy than the product, but they sent this LESS THAN 24 HRS after I placed the order; I was IMPRESSED!!! (& relieved!) I bought 2 in case I messed one up (which I did, & accidentally squirted all over the floor), but the second one worked as advertised, within 10 minutes. My only complaint is with the design of the product, it’s hard to tell what “half” a syringefull is (2 doses in each syringe for use on a cat) But if water & soft food & Miralax hasn’t worked, this will!
This is a great product, easy to use. Make sure to go over instructions with your vet, it’s also helpful to have a second set of hands if you have a squirmy little rascal like I do.
Pet-ema saved my cat a trip to the emergency vet. After a week of constipation and vet saying she couldnt see him because her appointment slots were full and that we should take my cat to an emergency vet hospital we opted to test our luck with ordering a pet-ema from Chewy first. Initially nothing happen but within an hour my cat expelled so much poop I don't even know how exactly he was holding it all in. My cat expelled several poops of all shapes and sizes within next two hours and finished off with a bit of diarrhea. Poor fur ball was exhausted but pet-ema did its job and saved us a hospital visit. 100% recommend this product.
thank you! the awareness by chewy that this is somewhat of an emergency product did not go unnoticed by me. super grateful.
