    Economical Cat/kitten Dewormer

    By on Top 250 Contributor

We adopted 4 kittens and the need for economical options is a must for us! This is a giant bottle for the price. Now granted this does not treat tapeworms which are still very important to treat in kittens, it is a valuable dewormer for roundworms. I would rather use pyrantel pamoate/praziquantel for more coverage but you can only get it as a prescription for cats. The kittens eat it with no issues in their wet food and they appear to be healthy. The dose is small and a reasonable amount which makes it’s easier to hide in the food.

    My cat hates this stuff

    By on

I purchased this because of so many ppl saying their finicky cats loved it. NOT MINE. i put it in soft food, she ignored it, i put it in hard food, she wouldn't touch it, i put it in her water, she hasn't drank or eaten anything for almost 2 days. Now i have to give her food an water so she will end her hunger strike.

    Use a medicine syringe!!

TL;DR: If you don’t own one already, buy the Lixit Small Animal Oral Syringe & Medicine Dropper for $2.99 because the bottle only comes with a little measuring spoon. We got this because our cats wouldn’t accept the pills, whole or crushed.. It works, and I would have given five stars for that and the size of the bottle.. .. except I’ve never met a cat who would take medicine from any type of spoon, and I’ve been rescuing cats for over a decade now. Whoever thought that was going to work was dreaming. In particular, our cat Sparrow, is a 15-pound menace when it comes to medicine and grooming, and when she tells you to unhand her, it’s no empty threat. SOLUTION: It’s worth the extra $3 to add the one Chewy carries when you order this. It made it so easy, even with Sparrow - no wounds for us, minimal insult to her since it took much less time. As an added bonus, when you rescue a 3-4 week old kitten a year later, you’ll have a dropper for feeding her, which will come in handy. (YMMV) Deducted a star for unrealistic directions for administering medicine to cats, and for not even mentioning that a syringe makes both measuring the dosage and administering the medicine much better. … more

It works fast, cats ate it up

    By on

My cats are pretty finicky. I was doubtful that this would work. I dropped the dosage into their water and also right onto their food. No walking away as usual, one cat even seemed to like it! It took care of the problem within a few days.

hard to give, and super sticky

    By on

Giving this to cats is nearly impossible. Especially when it’s a tiny teaspoon that spills easily and you’re advised to give the cat 6 of them! I’ve spilled probably half of the bottle trying to give It to my cat and the solution is dark brown and extremely sticky! I can’t even vouch that It works or not!

Worked well for all four of my cats

    By on

My cats had all gotten worms once and I ordered this product and within about a couple of weeks, there were no more signs of worms. I followed the included instructions exactly. It isn't tasty I'm sure, so I mixed the appropriate amount in with a small portion of their favorite soft food. If you have multiple cats like me, be sure to serve them separately so they get their recommended dose. I wasn't sure how much of it I would need for four cats, so I ordered 3 bottles but I have only used 1/2 a bottle. So, a little goes a long way. I would buy this product again.

    Mixed with dewormer pill

    By on

I added a tablespoon of this to my 10lb cats water fountain as well as giving him a dewormer pill and within four days it went from looking like someone threw sesame seeds on my couch to not being able to find a single worm.

    Didn’t work

    By on

My 4 cats ended up getting infested after one escaped from the house. Been using this for 2 months with no actual progress. Cats HATE the taste. They gag the second they smell it. Often throw up the next day.
