    Do Not Use

My Vet prescribed this for my 8 year old Jack Russell Terrier. She didn't like taking it and we only gave it to her every other day because she would not eat when she got it. It did work for the incontinence. She got it for about 3 months. She lost over 5 pounds and she was only a 20 pound dog. My Vet prescribed this for my 8 year old Jack Russell Terrier. She lost over 5 pounds and she was only a 20 pound dog. She eventually quit eating. Took her to the Vet. She had an enlarged heart. Got more medicine for that. Within a week she was dead from complete renal failure. I can't say for sure this is what caused her death, but she was at the Vet for her annual physical in March and she was extremely healthy. Please be very cautious using Proin ER! I wish I would have saw a post like this. I would have been more aware of what was happening to her. … more

    Didn't work!

My dog has been using the 50mg Proin for a number of years. They ran out and will no longer be carrying at my Vet, so we tried the extended-release. After two weeks my dog was leaving puddles again!! Very frustrating, because they keep running out of the 50mg..

    We stopped this medicine

    By on

Our very active dog became lethargic after four days on this medicine. She stopped eating and we had to pick her up and make her go on her daily walk. Our vet said this was normal and to keep her in for couple of weeks and see if she got better. After observing our dog and reading the reviews on the internet, we decided to keep her off of it. She was back to her lively self in 36 hours. We will try something else. This medicine works for many but the side effects are lethal when they occur.
