Puppies in Bloom Puppy ID Bands are colorful litter collars made to use during whelping and for the first eight weeks following birth. These gentle collars can be placed on dogs, cats, or other small animals from the moment of birth to help you keep up with who's who in the litter. The wrap-around style is lightweight, thin, and made with a soft hook and loop material that self-attaches—no buckles, fasteners, or strings to fuss with. Simply wrap them to the size you need, and adjust them as your litter grows. When used together with Puppies in Bloom's Puppy Charts (sold separately), each collar becomes a valuable record keeping system, offering a great solution for breeders to keep track of each puppy's progress.

Puppy ID Bands are not intended for long term use. Fading will occur over time. On rare occasions, this type of can cause skin irritation in breeds with sensitive skin. Check the pup's neck daily for needed adjustments for growth and monitor for irritation. Remove the immediately at the first sign of irritation. The collars should not be wrapped too tight or too loose. Leave just enough room to allow one finger to fit between the collar and the pup's neck.
Wrap the puppy band around the pup's neck leaving enough room to insert a finger between the collar and the pup. The band should be wrapped and attached evenly to avoid leaving a pointed edge exposed, as this can cause irritation.
Check the bands daily and adjust as needed. Move up to the next size if necessary as the puppy grows.
Hand wash with soap and water as needed.
To get the most accurate size collar for your furry best friend, measure the center of their neck a with a cloth tape measure, a few inches down from their head. Pull the tape snug, but not tight. If you don't have a tape measure, you can also use a piece of string and measure it with a rigid ruler afterwards. Make sure there’s enough room for about two fingers between the collar and your pup’s neck.
We recommend if you have a toy breed or small dog, add an inch to the neck measurement. For medium and large dogs, add two inches to the neck measurement. It is recommended that ALL breeds start with the 8-inch size. Please follow the chart below for puppies over 10-14 days old.
Size | Recommended Breed Size |
---|---|
8-inch | Newborn Puppies |
12-inch | Small - Medium |
14-inch | Medium - Large |

I have bought many other brands, but these out perform them all and FIT. The others say puppy collars, for newborns, but are so long you have to try to wrap around a wiggly puppy 3 times and then they don't stay stuck closed. This brand is a perfect fit. Easy to use and stay stuck, no collar falling off or sticking to another puppies collar. Only con, would love more colors.
These were very disappointing. They are Velcro on the outside and stick to everything including the blankets. Because of this they attract everything and quickly got dirty. Now you can’t even tell the color of the collars unless you look on the inside. Going to be looking elsewhere for new collars.
These are adjustable and durable, but the velcro edges are rough and caused calluses on my puppies skin. The vet recommended to discontinue using them immediately.
I got these to tell my all black foster kittens apart. They work very well and can be adjusted over and over again as they grow.
Like all the other reviews, puppy's shoulders were rubbed raw. Do not buy these!
My puppies were not even 10 days old and they made bad sores on their neck and shoulder area. These collars are bad. They done the same thing to my first set of puppies. Don’t buy these collars.
Loved the simplicity, but felt bad they get caught in the short haired fur of my Shepardoodles which causes them to itch. I know it's the material but its definitely the edges of the cuts that cause the problem. I guess it'd be better to go to hobby lobby and and make some without the itch factor.. other than that it did the trick until the pups out grew them in 1.5 weeks time.
It’s very hard to line the collar perfectly all the way around. The collars stick to every thing. The puppies would stick to blankets, puppy pads, and each other.
Trust me, these are the collars you’re looking for. I looked far and wide to find this kind. Every single one of the ID collars you’ll find on Amazon, despite a gazillion different vendor names, are all the same garbage. They simply don’t adhere shut. Period. They market them as being “soft” on both sides but what it actually is, is that only about the last inch of the collar has the latches on it to adhere to the other side…and they’re such poor quality even that doesn’t fasten. These are just as soft on both sides but each side is covered with the opposite adhesive surface. They actually fasten shut and stay in place, like they’re supposed to. Obviously if the pets get wild, they’re going to tear them off of each other, but that’s to be expected, and not a bad things as far as safety is concerned.
I ordered thinking these were the typical velcro/soft ID bands we have used for 10 years or so of my 30 years breeding. These are a harder plastic type velcro and they cut our neonates! 2 puppies had sores/cuts in the first 12 hours from the hard edge that required vet visit. Do not buy! Ensure you get a soft version.
