This product is a treat and is not intended to be fed as a meal. The caloric intake from treats should not exceed 10% of a dog's total daily caloric requirement. However, Puppy Chow Training Treats provide 100% complete and balanced nutrition for dogs of all life stages including puppies so that they will not dilute the nutritional value of your dog's regular diet. If treats are given, the amount of food should be reduced accordingly to maintain proper weight. Provide adequate fresh water in a clean container daily.
These treats are great for puppy training overall. Potty training a puppy can be a challenge if you don't follow the correct guidelines. I call them "potty cookies" and my puppy will now go outside and potty to get his "potty cookie". He also knows that he has to sit in order to get his cookie. They are the perfect size since you need a lot of them during training. Apparently they taste well because he loves them!
The treats are pretty tough. We used for training treats for my 13 week old Australian Cobberdog. However, it takes her some time to eat them due to the size and toughness. I would not recommend for training. She likes them fine otherwise so we are now using them as a regular treat in the day to day instead of for training.
Ella (14 weeks old) golden retriever puppy LOVES these! Helps tons with training, not crumbly and small enough to not have to break up. Plus they’re good for her.
bought at a store, decently hard, leave the bag open for a few hours. They are now harder than dry kibble. First treat given to puppy, he hated them, rather eat kibble. Kinda sad.
Got these to train my pup and was pretty disappointed. The treats were hard for him to chew and also difficult for me to pull apart. He quickly lost interest during training because of how hard they are.
These are the best small treats. Only 3 calories and can even easily break them in half. My 3 pups are crazy about the salmon flavor.
Our three dogs, Miles Davis (11), Melody Rose (5), and Blitzen Noel (4 months) all love these salmon treats!!! They make training so much easier!
My 8 week old Husky does not like them. At first, he wouldn't touch them. When he did finally eat one, he acted like it was way to hard to chew. My 9 month old chocolate lab will eat them, but he doesn't seem to go nuts over them like some other treats. I bought Puperoni training treats, and my Husky goes crazy over those. They also love Blue Buffalo blue bits.
We purchased 2 bags for training with our new pup,she does not are for these treats.
The little rescue puppies love these. It makes training them easy.
