My dog seems to love the combination of crunchy and tender kibble. How do you do that?
We want your dog to love eating a healthy meal, and dogs enjoy Beneful with its variety of texture-tender and crunchy. To keep tender kibble soft and chewy, we use natural, U.S. - sourced glycerin which is the same ingredient that is used in many human foods, like dried fruits and energy bars. Natural glycerin, the same ingredient in foods you eat, can help keep tender kibble soft while the crunchy kibble retains that crunchy texture. The end result? A healthy Beneful meal with a variety of textures that your pup will love to eat every time. How does Purina® ensure the quality of its products?Purina’s quality control and safety protocols are the gold standard for the pet food industry and we hold ourselves to very strict standards. Isn’t it true that dogs are carnivores and need meat - based products - not grains?
One common misconception is that dogs are carnivores. The reality is that even their wolf ancestors eat only 70 percent meat. Today's dogs are omnivores, built to consume a more balanced diet - and that's a good thing. Depending on the breed, dogs can live twice as long as wolves. Learn more by clicking here.
What Is AAFCO?
The Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) is a voluntary membership association of local, state and federal agencies charged by law to regulate the sale and distribution of animal feeds and animal drug remedies. AAFCO is not a government agency and has no regulatory authority, though it does recognize laws administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). In fact, many states have adopted the model pet food regulations established by AAFCO into state laws.
What is the purpose and function of AAFCO?
Although AAFCO has no regulatory authority, the Association provides a forum for the membership and industry representation to achieve 3 main goals:* Safeguarding the health of animals and humans* Ensuring consumer protection* Providing a level playing field of orderly commerce for the animal feed industry.* These goals are achieved by developing and implementing uniform and equitable laws, regulations, standards, definitions and enforcement policies for regulating the manufacture, labeling, distribution and sale of animal feeds - resulting in safe, effective and useful feeds by promoting uniformity amongst member agencies.
How Does AAFCO Promote The Wel lbeing Of My Pet?
AAFCO establishes model regulations, labeling and nutritional standards, as well as ingredient definitions. Uniformity of standards and definitions for pet food labels helps make labels easier for you to understand as you select the appropriate product for your pet.Pet food that is labeled with a "complete and balanced" nutritional adequacy statement for animals of a certain life stage can only do so if they have met the stringent standards established by AAFCO, substantiated by laboratory analysis, feeding trials, or analysis comparable in nutritional adequacy.
