Feeding Instructions

Feed an average size adult cat 1 - 1 1/4 oz. per lbs. of body weight daily. Divide into two or more meals. Adjust as needed to maintain ideal body condition. Refrigerate unused portion.

Transition Instructions

You should consider transitioning gradually to new pet foods to help eliminate any digestive issues. We recommend consumers introduce a new pet food over a period of 7 - 10 days to help avoid digestive upset. The first day we recommend mixing 10 percent of the new food with 90 percent of the current food. Each day, increase the amount of the new food while decreasing the amount of the current food.

Purina - Please go back to the Original Salmon Recipe

    By on

My cat has been eating Tender Salmon Recipe for years. It's the only wet food that he will eat. Now they changed the formula. He will lick the watery gravy but won't touch the food. Please Purina, go back to the original formula so that my cat will eat...

    Ripoff in a can :(

    By on

I had to buy this when my regular order of 3-oz, "Purina Pro Plan Focus Healthy Metabolism Formula Salmon Entrée in Sauce" became unavailable. Upon opening this food i noticed that there is a bout one heaping tablespoon of actual solid food in the can, and the rest is just "sauce". I had to use two cans of this food to get enough for one serving. Definitely never buying again.

    New formula is terrible

    By on

My two adult tabbies have been eating Purina one ideal weight and true instinct for over a year with no problems. Then I just got my most recent order and both cats will not eat it. Sitting here with five cases of food that they turn their noses up at. Going to be calling chewy or Purina or both to get compensated and return the product and find a new brand that they will eat. Has anyone with cat's nose this is a huge ordeal and a massive bummer.

    Good food!

    By on

My three cats do not all prefer this salmon flavor, only one will eat it, so it will take a bit longer to get through the large box. That being said, the food is very chunky with lots of gravy. Ingredients are quality, and calories are lower than average with higher protein, so I do like this food.

Good to mix with dry food

    By on

This recipe is a bit too watery to feed by itself. I have used the ideal weight chicken recipe and it is definitely more firm for use alone. I have had to mix the salmon recipe with kibble because it has chunks but lots of fluid. You have to be careful opening the can or it will make a mess.

    CHANGED FORMULA. YUCK!

    By on

My cat has been eating this for awhile and all of a sudden not only did they change the look but also the formula. Since when is salmon brown? My cat will not touch it. Glad I only ordered 1 case. Very disappointed.

    Ideal weight cat food

    By on

Too much liquid in can, my cat won't eat it even though it is a flavor that she likes.

    My gravy-loving cat's favorite

    By on

About a year and a half ago, my aging kitty became a picky eater practically overnight. I've been trying lots of different wet foods to narrow down her preferences. She doesn't like pate. She doesn't like turkey. She doesn't generally like big chunks of meat. She seems to really like Salmon. One thing that is very clear: She absolutely loves GRAVY! This food is her absolute favorite. It has the most gravy of any that I've found so far. She almost always licks her plate clean. With other flavors, it's hit-or miss; she always eats the gravy but often leaves most of the meat. She likes this Ideal Weight Tender Salmon so much that she even eats the big chunks of meat.
