We recommend that you keep your dog in ideal body condition and not allow your dog to become overweight. The exact amount of food your dog requires will need to be adjusted according to age, activity and environment. But a good place to start is with these guidelines for an average, active, adult dog fed once daily.
Weaning Pups: Start puppies on dry or moistened Pro Plan as early as they begin to nibble at solid foods, generally 3-4 weeks of age.
Growing Pups: Feed pups (to six months of age) all of the moistened Pro Plan they will consume at intervals throughout the day. If fed dry, Pro Plan may be kept before pups at all times.
Reproducing Dogs: Pro Plan provides the extra nutrition needed by reproducing females in stages of gestation and lactation. Food consumption may vary during gestation, so feed the amount needed to maintain the pregnant female's ideal body condition Food intake may double or even quadruple during lactation.
Please allow 7-10 days to ease the transition from your dog's current food. Each day, simply feed a little less of the previous food and a little more Pro Plan until you're feeding Pro Plan exclusively. This gradual transition will help avoid dietary upsets.

Dog quit eating

I wish I read the reviews before buying. This product sounded great due to being all life stages since I have a one year old, 3 year old, and 7 year old huskies. I’m trying to switch my pup from purina pro plan puppy food to adult food that all 3 of my dogs can eat. The current adult food I have my older 2 on (nutro) gave him diarrhea so I was excited to try this in hopes they would all do well with it. Well, they all ate it for about a week (which I was surprised cause it smells TERRIBLE) then suddenly stopped eating. I thought something was wrong, then my boyfriend got online and read the reviews of this food. Many people have the same story of their dogs hating it and not eating. BIG BIG THANKS TO CHEWY

Had ordered delivered as expected. Because our new greyhound (retired racer) had a bad experience losing several teeth by chewing a metal cage before we adopted him, some of the treats ordered were not a good fit for his mouth and you were so kind to give us credit for those items. We appreciate your consideration and we will continue to service your company in the future. The playtoys were great and we enjoy hearing the squeaks on a daily basis.

Great food

Man best friend is a Brittany. This is a very high energy dog. She loves the Pro plan food and is doing very well on it. As a growing puppy of 13 weeks old her weight is right on and the vet says the 30-20 mix is very good. He says anything above 30% protein is a little high, so I feel I made a good choice for this little girl. I am mixing the chicken and rice and the salmon and rice 50/50. I believe this mixture gives her the best of all worlds.

My somewhat picky dog did not care for this food

I ordered this because Purina Pro Plan Complete Essentials shredded blend was out of stock. I thought it would be somewhat similar but it was not. My dog gingerly ate one bowl of it and then refused it for days. Unfortunately for me I bought a 35lb bag.

I started feeding PPP sport when I brought my new lab puppy home. It came highly recommended by my trainer for working and sporting dogs. I love how muscular it keeps my dog looking, and boundless energy in reserve as well. I switched over my older lab from the standard purina dog chow. He has just been a house pet, but has had summer skin issues. Those have all but disappeared!! Plus he has gained interest in eating and has increased energy as well.

Maxwell would not eat this. not even when mixed in with a food he likes, i had to go to a local store and buy something different and ended up giving this to a family member. a very costly error on my part which i could not afford being on a budget.

I got this food for my Yorkie who is notoriously picky with dry food. Her favorite food is backordered for the foreseeable future so I decided to try this since it's similar in protein/fat. The kibble size is also very suitable for a small dog. She doesn't *love* it but likes it more than others we've tried, and she looks great on this food. Her stools are perfect, her coat is shiny, and her eyes are clear (she gets a lot of tear staining with some foods). Her body condition is also excellent. I tried her on a more carb-heavy food before this one and immediately noticed a difference. She's back to looking lean and conditioned on this food. She's pretty active so I think this formula suits her I got this food for my Yorkie who is notoriously picky with dry food. This food is Tanner Approved!

My foster dog, Tanner, is 8 years old, has no teeth, and is malnourished from heartworm. These morsels are small enough that I don’t need to crush them up to add to his wet food (bonus!) and he can even eat some without wet food as a snack! Apparently, this food is delicious because Tanner licks his bowl clean and gets extra excited to eat. If you’re like me and have a toothless friend who could use some extra lbs, try this food out!

Our dog likes the food and seems to thrive on it. The vet we used feed it to his own dog. It always disappears to the last morsel and we have had zero digestive issues.
