Feeding Instructions

Feed 1 can per 5 - 1/2 lbs of body weight daily. Adjust as needed. Divide into 2 or more meals. Refrigerate unused portion.

Transition Instructions

You should consider transitioning gradually to new pet foods to help eliminate any digestive issues. We recommend consumers introduce a new pet food over a period of 7 - 10 days to help avoid digestive upset. The first day we recommend mixing 10 percent of the new food with 90 percent of the current food. Each day, increase the amount of the new food while decreasing the amount of the current food.

FAQ

How do you ensure the quality of your dog and cat food?

Artificial coloring is added to maintain a more desirable and consistent appearance. All colorings used in our pet foods are approved for use by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Where are your ingredients sourced from? Are they sourced from China?

The vast majority of ingredients used in Purina brand products are sourced from the United States. As with other food companies, we do source a limited amount of ingredients from China. These ingredients, which are primarily essential nutrients, such as taurine and B vitamins, are not commonly available in the USA or other countries in the quantities we need.

Why don’t you utilize a natural source of Vitamin K instead of menadione?

The basic story about the dangers of Menadione has emerged at various times during the past decades as something of an urban legend in the pet food industry and are not research - based. In fact, numerous research studies and nutritional textbooks have identified Menadione as a safe and effective means of providing the important nutrient Vitamin K to Dogs & Cats. Menadione has been commonly used in pet foods for approximately 25 years with no documented negative health effects. Menadione is a stable source of the essential nutrient vitamin K. Vitamin K provides the following nutritional benefits: it is required for the synthesis of a number of body proteins, most notably the proteins responsible for normal blood clotting.

What is a complete and balanced nutrition in dog or cat food?

Pet food makes up the entirety of a pet’s diet, so it needs to deliver all of the nutrients they need. That’s why pet foods so often use the phrase “complete and balanced.” Every pet food needs to meet federal (FDA) and state regulatory standards before it gets near your dog’s or cat’s bowl.

    My finicky cat loves this.

    By on

I have an elderly cat (12 years old) that is losing weight too much. He takes Budesonide daily for suspect IBS. He wasn't eating his Blue Buffalo canned food much at all, so I ordered this food with gravy with hopes that he gains weight. He's been about 2 weeks into eating this, and he loves it. I hope that he starts gaining weight soon. He fluctuates about .2 lb so far. He doesn't seem sick...it's just that I can feel his ribs under his long fur. I'm hoping that the gravy is ok for his health. I just know he is eating more now.

Finally! Minced chicken in a large can

    By on

I’m so happy to find a food that my picky girl Fiona loves in a large 5.5 oz can. Often when you read the feeding instructions on small cans, you should be feeding them much more than a single can. With Pro Plan chicken entree, one is enough. He food itself is minced, it pats and is a somewhat loose texture with lots of gravy, which is what my kitty likes. I’ve got it on Auto-ship now. :)

    My cats like it

    By on

My cats are a little finicky in they strongly prefer the minced meat textured foods over pate. The Pro Plan Chicken Entree goes over very well with both of my little fur babies, and I rest easy knowing that this is a quality product. My only complaint is that they only offer this, and the Turkey & Giblets, in the minced texture in the larger 5.5oz cans. While there are other minced options in the 3oz cans, those are much more expensive on a cost per serving basis, and that additional expense adds up when you have multiple cats. As much as I'd love to stick with Pro Plan exclusively, cats get bored with the same thing every day just like people do, so I also buy the flavors I can't get from Pro My cats are a little finicky in they strongly prefer the minced meat textured foods over pate. Nothing would make me happier than to see Pro Plan expand their minced options. Regardless of my feelings on their limited variety in this texture, I can't deny that the Chicken Entree is a fantastic option, and one which will remain a staple in my fur babies' meal rotation. … more

    Pros and cons

    By on

Highly recommend the food, especially for senior cats. Ordering was easy, shipping and delivery prompt. HOWEVER, multiple cans are dented. Two are dented so much I can’t risk using them.
