OK to feed to a cat who is under suspicion for a chicken allergy? I don't know what poultry byproduct means (on the ingredient list).

By-products from poultry are simply parts of the animal that remain after the meat is removed. They may include lungs, spleen, liver, and kidneys. Since your pet is allergic to poultry we would advise against feeding this food to your pet.
Where is this cat food made and where are the ingredients sourced?

The vast majority of ingredients used in Purina products are sourced here in the U.S. Like other food companies, they do source a limited amount of ingredients from other countries. These ingredients are primarily essential nutrients, such as taurine and B vitamins that are not commonly available in the U.S. in the quantities needed and are sourced in China.

fyi for sensitive cats

Within a few weeks my cats began excessively licking themselves and bloated/upset bellies. After speaking to my vet it sounds like high protein diets are tough on some kitties and unfortunately my kitties had to find out the hard way . Nothing wrong with the food just watch for signs of reactions .

This review is for Live Free Salmon and Rice.

My three cats absolutely love this food, and race to get to their food bowls when they hear me pour it out. I have allergies to lots of things, and cat dander is near the top of the list. The cats have been on this food for five months now, and (cat fanciers will understand) I can let them head butt me and snuggle up without a sniffle. They look beautiful, too. All of their coats are soft and the tuxedo cat's is shiny and sleek. They seem to shed very little, too. ProPlan Live Free allows me to have these wonderful animals as pets.

Great for "Mixing" it up!

I get a bag of the "Complete Essentials", "Hairball", "Sensitive Stomach" and "Urinary care" Purina Pro plan then mix them all together to serve to my 6 cats. I have one cat affected with each (ie one has hairballs, one a sensitive stomach) and keep it available for grazing all day. They love it.

Best feed supplier

Very happy with my new cat food supplier. I used to buy Petko food, but the last two times I had a hard time bringing salmon food. Chwy there are no such problems, everything is delivered quickly and in good condition

Healthy and tasty

Love the option for the 3.5lb bag. I've found it can be hard to find in my local stores so happy it's an option here! I've noticed when I go with larger bags the food can go stale over time (given this is over a period of a few months since I only have 2 cats), and by the time i'm halfway through my cats aren't as excited to eat. The smaller bags are best for us! Whenever a fresh new bag is opened they go crazy for this :)

Great Food

I have tried so many different brands and flavors of food for my cat. She has so many digestive issues, and then the foods she does well on she doesn’t like the flavor. I think we have finally found the one. She enjoys the flavor, and so far has done very well digestively speaking. I’m very happy with this product!

wow like drugs

My cat has eaten one food from another brand for 5+ years w no issue. Then she started eating my dogs Purina salmon and rice dry food! Once she got a taste of that she lost all interest in her prior food and thank goodness there’s a cat version of the salmon and rice! She is in love with this food. Now I gotta get her the wet version too.

Consistent quality

My cats prefer this dry food over any others. The Purina Pro Plan salmon and rice dry cat food provides consistent quality. It must be relatively tasty. I used to feed the Purina Pro Plan to our dogs after it was recommended by my veterinarian, and the food got rid of any intestinal problems the dogs were having. The dogs have now passed over the Rainbow Bridge, but my cats are benefiting daily from this brand.

Kitty absolutely loves it

I made the switch from Blue to this brand and I’m so glad. It’s excellent quality, pretty much the same price, and my fur baby loves it. I was worried she’d have a tough time adjusting, but she would’ve been fine swapping entirely the first day. I mixed it in gradually for 5 or so days, but it was just so her digestive system could have a chance to get used to it. I did a lot of research and this brand is highly recommended and within my price range, and I’m also trying out several of their wet food flavors to see which she likes best (loves ALL of them so far). Couldn’t be happier!
