What started out as a miracle food for years for my Cane Corso with sensitive skin and stomach has over the last few months cost us hundreds of dollars and unnecessary pain and suffering for my big boy! A few months ago my boy refused to eat this food without adding something to it to entice him, he went through a few days of diarrhea which eventually subsided. Shortly afterwards he began getting terrible hives and bloody lesions on his skin and losing clumps of fur. After several rounds of antibiotics and antifungals, allergy testing, skin scrapes, and bloodwork, there were still no clear answers and his skin was still in terrible shape. After the process of elimination I decided to look into his food. I'm glad I did! After reading tons of reviews from the last few months, I see he's not the only one suffering from the formula change.
I was excited to try this kibble with my new dog! Unfortunately she only ate it for a couple weeks, and then decided she didn’t like it anymore. While eating it her stools were very loose and stinky, she had oily fur, and farted a lot, none of which she did on her previous kibble so I assume something with the recipe doesn’t agree with her tummy. I’ve decided to stop feeding the rest and try a different brand. Now I’m not sure what to do with the leftover, there’s still more than half a bag left and it was a waste of money!
We have used the same food for over a year and the last 3 weeks our dog has had bad bad diarrhea on and off. The diarrhea would go away the second we put him on cooked turkey and rice/ bland food. I am so glad we read these reviews because we were just going to replace the bag! Not the same food it was before!! Shame! We are switching to open farm salmonon a recommendation from a friend whose sensitive tummy dogs thrive on it.
I’m getting ready to order purina pro plan again but with so many awful reviews but more so make all those poor dogs so sick I won’t go near it now! How can you keep selling it seeing all this happening from this food! I’m so disappointed in chewy after this! Stop selling it for goodness sakes! Would not recommend now and I must find another good that won’t sicken my three dogs! I just can’t get over you’re still selling it! Why would you do this?
Both my dogs like this food. After recovering from the Victor salmonella recalled food we chose the Purina food. One dog has a very sensitive tummy, he is 4 years old, he has always had way to soft poos. This has been an ongoing issue. This food and the pro biotics from Purina has made the chore of poo pick up soooo much better. Instead of cow pie poos it is now looking like regular dog poos. I can only say YEA!!!
My three adult dogs have been eating victor food for 6 years. They had a recall, and I had to find something that was sensitive for bellies and skin. I used to feed them separate, but they all end up eating eachothers food so we feed just one kind for all. They have been eating this, and loving it! I have a black lab, a shihpoo and an American bully. No diarrhea, less itching and happy doggies !
My dog was having stomach issues on and off for about a month. We thought it might be the anxiety due to moving, a stomach bug, infection, etc. Turns out it was his kibble! Apparently Australian Shepherds have a tendency to be allergic to something in the Purina Pro Plan Chicken & Rice formula. As soon as we switched him to the salmon, he was back to his usual self. Definitely recommend trying the salmon recipe, especially if your pup is having stomach issues.
I have been using this food for my hypoallergenic dog for years. I read that they changed the formula so I researched what they removed. The only thing I saw that they removed was a probiotic so I just supplemented for that. I have had no issues with the new bag and adding probiotics. I have tried literally all the other brands of foods and my dog gets sick. This is the only food that has worked for him.
I like how Ozzys orders doesn't take a long time. Just a fee days.i like how I get emails about Ozzys order and when I should expect it.Thet wrap up my food treats and toys good so Ozzys stuff doesn't get ruined. Ozzy loves the chewy box. He knows it's for him.The prices are great!! I love that I can get medicine for Ozzy from CHEWY!! CHEWY is the BEST!!!
My 2 Springers have been on PPP since they were puppies, recently we've been dealing with vomiting, hives, open sores, leaking glands, constant scratching, shaking heads, yeast infections in ears and the list goes on... and now they are refusing to eat. My senior yorkie has vomited and refused to eat. I'm at a loss, and yay, now I get to start researching for a new food to feed them. STAY AWAY FROM PURINA!!!
