We recommend that you keep your dog in ideal body condition and not allow your dog to become overweight. The exact amount of food your dog requires will need to be adjusted according to age, activity and environment. But a good place to start is with these guidelines for an average, active, adult dog fed once daily. Provide adequate fresh water in a clean container daily.
Please allow 7-10 days to ease the transition from your dog's current food. Each day, simply feed a little less of the previous food and a little more Pro Plan until you're feeding Pro Plan exclusively. This gradual transition will help avoid dietary upsets.

I ordered this to add in to my dogs food - the vet said to give her low fat meals because she was on the verge of pancreatitis. I saw the high protein content in this food and thought it would be good. But when she has it, she often vomits. I thought it might be that she was adjusting. Started giving my lab some, to keep his weight down. He started vomiting. I wondered if it was treats that my neighbors give my dogs. Did not put two and two together until my Chihauhau got into their food and he vomited. He never vomits. The 4th dog that never eats this, never vomits. That was my aha moment. I thought since I typically feed them Purina that this might be the answer, but now I'm considering other brands. It's hard to find food that doesn't contain pea protein, which a lot of brands use. Also, other reviewers mentioned chicken bits, but mine was the same shape kibble, no yummy bits at all.
It's dog food and we have to swap up for our dog, but this review is about Chewy. So glad we found it. Everything we need is always in stock and the shipping is just awe inspiring. Order on Friday and have it on Monday. Can't beat that. Subscriptions are just as efficient. Really good company to do business with.
Our nearly 10 year-old smaller female Golden is in great shape, but it's always been tough to keep the extra weight off. We switched over from the regular Adult Chicken & Rice formula to the weight management and it's really working. Within 45 days she went from 61 to 58lbs. Today at the vet (after 4 months) she's at 55.5lbs, which is perfect for her size. She had no idea we switched to the lower fat "weight management" version.
I adopted my dog who was morbidly obese (9/9 body condition score at the vet!) and my ultimate goal was to help her lose weight. I opted for purina pro plan weight management and it has aided her tremendously in helping her lose weight. She has lost at least 15 pounds since July from when I adopted her and I can now feel her ribs! I initially fed my dogs hill’s science diet weight management and she did not like it at all - she now gets excited when I feed her this food and loves it! I even give it to her as treats. I highly recommend this food as a non-prescription weight loss management food.
Had to put our girl on a diet. I was dreading it because most weight management food, the dogs dont like it. Not this!! Ginger has been sticking with her diet and lost weight plus really enjoys the food.
I received try had to order this from Chewy due to it being out of stock from my usual choice of website. First it is a bit more pricey here than my usual site because I get discounts of 16%. That being said it’s still nice to know I can order it here if needed. My 4 adult dogs have been on this food now for about 2-3 years. They were all about 10 lbs or more overweight except for one. I gave them each less food than recommended plus I do not feed treats. All treats ever did was make them overweight. They are all now 8,11, 12 and 13 years old. Over the course of 1 year each one lost weight. One lost from 80 lbs down to 65 in 2 years. Another lost from 65 to 47. Another from 60 to 52. They have a yard to run around in but really most of the loss is just from not overfeeding. I have increased their food intake slightly to prevent further loss. The vet was extremely pleased with their look and said most pawents do not have the discipline to not give treats and not overfeed. All are extremely healthy weight wise. The ingredients may not be great but the dogs eat it without issue and they do not have to worry about carrying excessive weight going through their senior years.
My vet recommended that my greyhound would do well to lose a little weight. Switching over to weight management kibble did the trick.
Makes his breath stink Cant say if i would recommend or not. Its not a bad food but I’ve always bn told stinky breath is a digestive issue. So if it dont gv ur pooch stinky breath go for it. Great brand
My dog has been eating this food for multiple years now. After opening our most recent bag ordered from here, she got incredibly sick. Diarrhea, vomiting, lethargy for multiple days. Took to the vet, $500+ later they couldn’t find anything other than gastroenteritis. No parasites, not pancreatitis, clean blood work. I discovered online that dozens of people are having the same issue with PPP chicken based foods for their dogs within the last month. Definitely proceed with caution if you buy this. We’ll be looking for a new food unfortunately.
Our dog needs to lose a few pounds. Hopefully this will do the trick. At least she does like it.
