We recommend that you keep your dog in ideal body condition and not allow your dog to become overweight. The exact amount of food your dog requires will need to be adjusted according to age, activity and environment. But a good place to start is with these guidelines for an average, active, adult dog fed once daily.
Provide adequate fresh water in a clean container daily.
Please allow 7-10 days to ease the transition from your dog's current food. Each day, simply feed a little less of the previous food and a little more Pro Plan until you're feeding Pro Plan exclusively. This gradual transition will help avoid dietary upsets.

After reading many vet forums rescinding this food we decided to try it. It’s been 2 weeks and one dogs can not get used to it and has had constant diarrhea, the other dog is better but the stools are loose. I came here to see if I could find any other reviews and if other dogs were able to eventually adjust. I see the reviews recently flooded with issues and now I’m concerned that it’s the food, not my dog. Before reading these reviews, I added the salmon sensitive stomach food to my next auto-ship but now I’m considering Hills or Royal Canine. Bummer because I bought the 35 lb bag.
My dog likes this food, but it breaks apart easily. There are always a lot of crumbs/food broken into an almost powdery dust at the bottom of the bag. This did not happen when I bought versions of the same brand that were not shredded. It seems to only happen with the shredded version. It makes my dog cough. I put a little water in his bowl to make it better but will be switching to a different non-shredded version or something else.
We have fed our Australian Shepherd Purina pro plan since he was a puppy and transitioned him over to the adult food but this bag we got was terrible. He refused to eat and would throw up. I went out and bought another bag and he did fine on it but after reading the reviews I think I will transition him to hills I am sacred to get another bad bad and make him sick again. I would expect Purina to at least be truthful enough to admit they have a problem instead of losing customers and making dogs sick.
We have been giving our Goldendoodle this food for about a year now and has been amazing for him, But in the last bag of food we got it seems to be making him have diarrhea all the time lately with the food, He used to eat it all but now leaves half of it in the bowl. not sure what changed but am looking for good alternative.
My three-year-old black lab seems to like the bag with the golden retriever on it much more. It is has more orange on the bag than Blue. The kibble is triangle instead of round. The folks at the store say that y’all keep changing the labels on the bags. Makes it difficult to know what to get. Which bag is the most recent?
I’ve been feeding my mutt rescue this food since 2020. (He’s 5). At first, he would eat all of the food, then a few months ago he started only eating the chicken chunks unless he was super hungry. Now he hardly touches it. Additionally, he’s developed new weird tickle spots and odd itchy spots. He’s also losing hair more than just normal shedding and his stool is loose more times than it’s not. Due to him only picking out the chunks and going through food at a faster rate, i began searching for a new food. I came here to see the reviews and I’m glad I did! Definitely switching food!
On Sept. 8th i had to take my sick dog to the vet due to constant diarrhea. I couldn’t figure out what was wrong since this issue happened abruptly. The vet asked me numerous questions and we both could not figure out the issue. 0ver $700 dollars later on shots and medications for him being sick. After reading these negative reviews I’m pretty sure this batch of dog food was the cause. I would avoid this dog food until the problem is resolved.
My dogs have major GI issues and my vet suggested this food last year. My dogs have been on this food (chicken formula) since then and have done fine until this past week. We opened a new bag and 2/3 of my dogs have the runs bad! I’m hoping they can adjust to the new formula but if their symptoms get worse we’re going to have to find a new brand.
Re: PURINA PRO PLAN ADULT The last couple scoops of dog kibble will usually have a good amount of crumbs in them. Since opening this bag, it has been about 30% crumbs. My dog is always hungry so he eats it, but my feeling is that there’s either been a lot of mishandling of this bag, or it’s full of floor sweepings from the dog food factory. I have never seen dog food comprised of this amount of ‘fines’. I am not recommending this food. I plan to return back to Purina Pro Plan PUPPY unless someone can explain to me the benefits of feeding your pet dog DUST instead of kibble.
she had sort of given up eating her food when we discovered that she had a problem eating one Ora Vet a day and was having issues with it. she didn't want to eat her two meals of dog food and her stools were mushy. So we completely cut out the Ora Vet and after a few weeks, her stools are again normal consistency and she 'sings" for her meals in the morning and late afternoon. She also gets part of hear meals as a treat which she loves
