Needed time to adjust, but it works!
Our cat, who is almost 11, did not think highly of the food at first and would pick out the shredded bits but leave the rest. We continued offering it, then removing the uneaten portion after 20 minutes. After one week she started picking the smallest pieces and the shredded, then in 10 days she was eating everything; we have been through two small bags and finally committed to the large bag. The best part is that it works! This food is slightly lower in calories, which is helping keep our senior lady trim, and she hasn't spit out a single hairball in a month. After having to clean them up almost daily despite brushing her, I think we are both much happier. (Be mindful that cats cannot go long without food, it will cause serious medical issues. She is offered one 3oz can of wet food in the evenings, and continued to eat that; our veterinarian was comfortable with tough-loving her a little.)
Pro plan hairball cat food
I want to return the unused portion of my bag for a credit. My cat spent almost 2 days throwing up, after every meal. Not to mention the 2 or 3am sounds of him dry heaving. Eventually puking
be aware - shredded blend
I bought this food thinking it was the same one my cat always gets. Turns out it is the shredded blend and she does not like it nearly as much. In fact, I can hardly get her to eat it at all. Amazingly, the packaging photos for the two kinds are almost the same, which makes it all seem kind of deceitful. Frustrating, particularly since the cost of Pro Plan has skyrocketed in the last year.
Doesn't knock it around
My cat loves it. He doesn't knock it around out of his bowl, and he eats it all. None on the floor anymore.
Too many crumbs!!
The last 2 bags of turkey and rice shredded blends is full of crumbs that my cats will not eat. I end up straining the crumbs out with a colander. I am not sure I will continue buying it.
bring back the old version
My cat totally hates this new style & it causes her to throw up. So it’s completely not doing what it’s supposed to do. She loved the 1st version of the Pro Plan hair ball & it worked excellent. Why did they change it??? I see others are asking the same thing. Disappointed & guess I will have to try another brand for her.
Great service
This review is for all my purchases. Chewy is great. Great service and great products. They always have whatever I need. My cat, Henry, especially loves the treats and the Fancy feast savory centers. I like the sticky paws to protect my furniture from his claws! I would recommend shopping with Chewy.

Very sad about it
He refuses to eat it. I couldn't get his ProPlan indoor turkey, so got this hoping it would be OK, but he won't eat it. Total waste of money. The crows are getting it.
Not a good substitute
Since Chewy hasn't had regular Purina Pro Plan Hairball Management dry food in stock in forever, I thought I'd try this one. Shouldn't have bothered. One cat won't touch it and the other pukes it up every time he eats it. Even the feral cat that shows up every so often, isn't fond of it. Guess I'll be buying dry cat food elsewhere, unless the original hairball management is restocked (the regular version is available elsewhere and is still available per Purina, so no it hasn't been discontinued like the listing here indicates).
