What is the actual protein percentage in this food? It only lists crude protein.

How long should a Yellow Lab be fed. This formula before moving to a adult blend.
Answer by ChewyMar 29, 2019
A puppy is generally considered an adult when they stop growing taller. Large-breed dogs (more than 50 pounds when fully grown) might not be ready to switch to an adult food until they are between 15 and 24 months old. We recommend consulting with your veterinarian to determine when your individual pet may be considered an adult.

Is the corn and rice in this recipe tested for aflatoxins?
Answer by ChewyMay 19, 2020
Aflatoxin is a type of mycotoxins, which is a group of naturally occurring substances produced by certain molds. As part of Purina's comprehensive food safety and ingredient surveillance programs, they test for more than 150 substances – including mycotoxins – to ensure the quality and safety of their pet foods. Mycotoxins are not an ingredient in any Purina product.

Good for 2 year old

We adopted a 2 to 3 year old Vizsla female, recently spayed. Before the spaying, vet observed she was very skinny. Evidently, previous owner barely fed her and apparently, only table scraps. She was very lean with ribs and spin showing. In a couple of weeks, spine does not show at all, and ribs a barely showing. Although fairly active, her weight has Increased from 39.7 to 41.

Doesn’t keep him full My fault this time

I bought the wrong food. He is older than the recommended. Age. It doesn’t keep him full. He is hungry only a couple hours later after eating this. When I did but it regularly for him. Was the same issue. I mean to buy food with shredded chicken and hit the wrong one. So it is my fault. But this food never did make him feel full

Cleaned him right up.

We had such digestive trouble with our Golden puppy. At about 8 months, he began acting like he didn't like his food. Since I started the Pro Plan, all his digestive issues and diarrhea have cleared right up. And he loves it. Sooo happeee!!

Pro Plan Puppy (lg breed)

I have a rapidly growing very active puppy. I tried this large breed puppy food after learning it would support her bone and joint strength. It has not disappointed! She likes the food and I am more at ease knowing she has the extra support her growing body needs. Would be nice if they offered coupons, its kind of pricey.

Purina Always #1

My dogs have been on Purina all of my life. One of my girls, Sammie, is an English Retriever who struggled with consistent poops and upper GI discomfort like nausea/vomiting. At first, she was diagnosed with pancreatitis at 2.5 years old. Therefore, she was placed on Royal Canin Low Fat GI formula. However, pancreatitis was an unfortunately just a symptom of underlying Inflammatory Bowel Disease at 3 years old. For 2 years, it was a long road of finding the right balance of medications from prednisone to budesonide along with metronidazole and Proviable probiotic. After finding a stable medication plan, I switched Sammie's food to Purina HA Hydroloyzed chicken formula. Her poops have been the BEST they have ever been her entire 6 years of life. Therefore, after recently getting another golden retriever puppy, I was thrilled to learn that her breeder had her placed on Purina Pro Plan Puppy chicken and rice formula. I am a firm, loyal believer in Purina dog chow, especially given Sammie's experience with IBD. The puppy is doing absolutely fantastic on Purina Pro Plan Puppy. I am so relieved both of my girls love their food and have positive health which validates the many years my goldens have been on Purina dog chow.

Golden prefers Purina One Large Breed

for whatever reason, our 12 week old golden retriever, prefers Purina one large breed over this food. They seem to be almost the same although. The Purina one is actually a little less expensive and he loves the huge chicken chunks.

Packaging Changes Often

We love Purina Pro Plan! Both dogs are on it. Only thing I do not love, is the packaging changes often making it easy to purchase the wrong one. No fault of Chewy, just a heads up be extra cautious before ordering! I accidentally got the under 2 years blend instead of under one year. Still love this product!

Had High Hopes

This is the food that the breeder had my GSD puppy on. She did well on it for a little while but kept having episodes of diarrhea/loose stool and vomiting. She also had some gas and stomach gurgling. After multiple trips to the vet, I decided to try switching her food. I’m not sure if it was a sensitivity to chicken or what but this food unfortunately just did not work for her. Still on the hunt to find one that does.
