Feeding for Reproduction: Pro Plan provides the extra nutrition needed by reproducing females in stages of gestation and lactation. Food consumption may vary during gestation, so feed the amount needed to maintain the pregnant female's ideal body condition. Food intake may double or even quadruple during lactation. Provide adequate fresh water in a clean container daily. Puppies start to nibble solid foods at 3-4 weeks of age. Keep moistened Pro Plan available at all times. Allow your puppy to eat at will until fully weaned (6-8 weeks). After weaning, Pro Plan can be fed moistened or dry. For best results, develop a regular feeding schedule such as three small meals a day for younger puppies. You can gradually reduce to one feeding in the morning and one in the evening as your puppy ages. The routine should not vary. As puppies near adulthood, their calorie needs may drop, and your puppy may begin leaving some food in the bowl. Don't misinterpret this as an indication of dislike for the food. Instead, begin offering less so your puppy doesn't overeat and stays in ideal body condition. Nestle Purina Research indicates that avoiding overfeeding of puppies may help their development. Maintaining ideal body condition is key to encouraging proper growth in all puppies, especially large breeds. The indicated amounts are only a guideline. If your puppy becomes overweight, a reduction of your puppy's daily food intake may be appropriate. You may wish to consult your veterinarian about a weight control program. Recommended for Growth: This product is for growth of large breed puppies and maintenance of adult dogs - not for reproducing or lactating females. If you have a pregnant or nursing female, we recommend Pro Plan Focus Chicken & Rice Formula or Pro Plan Focus Lamb & Rice Formula puppy foods.
Making the Switch to Pro Plan: Although you'll be anxious to see the difference Pro Plan can make in your dog, please allow 7-10 days to ease the transition from your dog's current food. Each day, simply feed a little less of the previous food and a little more Pro Plan until you're feeding Pro Plan exclusively. This gradual transition will avoid dietary upsets.

My big baby loves it!!
By Chichi on Feb 25, 2021
He’s a lot of dog and this is great for his needs. At only ten months yet 80 lbs and estimated to be over 100 lbs as a full adult, he definitely needed something designed for a large breed pup. I think for what you’re getting it’s probably a bit more affordable option for a higher end kibble. Larger dogs mature more slowly so I decided he will be getting this until age 2. I like how his bowel movements are always solid on this. The only downside is that a large bag doesn’t last very long but I’ve starred supplementing this kibble with organ meats and deboned chicken quarter legs which are much cheaper than this and stretches this to last the month rather than less then three weeks when He’s a lot of dog and this is great for his needs. I just cook enough up for the week, shred it and mix about half a cup once a day in with it, usually as his last meal of the day so he doesn’t get finicky when there’s only kibble the rest of the day. … more

Pup approved!
By MelBelle on Feb 16, 2021
My GSP puppy has been eating this since we brought him home at 8 weeks. We’re happy with it because his coat is soft and shiny and he’s gaining the perfect amount of weight, plus he always devours it, so he must enjoy the taste. My only problem is trying to keep my adult Pointer from eating it too! We’ll definitely be staying with this kibble until he’s 2, and then we’ll switch over to the sport Pro Plan. Highly recommend!

Best kibble we’ve tried
By Camryn on Feb 8, 2021
My two girls have had sensitive stomachs since they were 8 weeks old. We had tried 2 other kibbles, but they would always end up sick with irregular bowel movements, and we would have to put them on a chicken and rice diet for a while afterwards. Thankfully, we found this kibble! They IMMEDIATELY loved it, and their bowel movements are more consistent than they’ve ever been! I would definitely recommend Purina Pro Plan Puppy!

Pro Plan is as good as it gets
By Deni on Feb 8, 2021
I've tried ALL the top most expensive dry dog feeds with my show and field labrador retriever. Purina Pro Plan sensitive skin and stomach formula was recommended by a skin and coat vendor at a dog show and it gives her the prettiest coat of all with no dandruff. I know other breeders who use it also. Now I'm using puppy formula for her litter.

Chocolate Lab
By Diasy on Jan 2, 2021
Me and my husband have a Chocolate Lab, it’s my first time to have a puppy and I’ve done a lot of research because I only want what’s best for her. I’ve bounced back and forth from raw diet to grain free kibble but have decided that this one is the best, it has all the complete nutrients that my pup needs! The breeder had her on puppy chow and I transitioned her to hills diet, then after a month into this. And let me tell you, we will surely stick to this! Our pup seems to grow even bigger each day and her coat is always so shiny! She always jumps up and down as soon as I open her kibble container. Will totally be using this until the foreseeable future.

Picky eater no more!
By Wolfhoundsforever on Feb 17, 2021
After weeks of trying to get my pup to eat, my Vet recommended Purina Pro plan for large breeds.. To my astonishment, mealtime is no longer an issue. My pup is eating normally. Huge difference in appetite, weight gain, better coat, energy, happiness. Wow! Whew! Try this....if you have a large breed pup.

Wrong kind
By Rachael on Feb 8, 2021
We ordered pro plan large breed puppy. We got the wrong brand they sent us focus. I told the woman that I didn’t want focus and the ingredients were different. She said she would send us the correct one and sure enough when we got it she had sent us the exact same thing so now we paid for a bag of food we didn’t want. I ended up having to drive to the pet store and pick up and bag of it myself as I don’t like to change our dogs food.

Recommended by My Vet
By StandardPoodleMom on Feb 10, 2021
I was looking for the best food for my new standard poodle puppy. After experiencing a lot of allergy and GI issues with another poodle who was on a very high end food, I decided to go with whatever my vet recommends. He recommended Purina Pro Plan Puppy, and it's been great for him since we started on it a few weeks ago.

Puppy is very happy
By Penny on Feb 8, 2021
I was feeding my puppy science diet lamb and rice. And then I decided to try The Purina pro plan chicken. My dog loves this food. I mixed it with her lamb and rice in the beginning and she actually picked out the Purina and are it first.

My dogs love this flavor
By Lynlyn on Feb 21, 2021
Been buying for awhile, I have 4 dogs so while they’re puppy I buy this for them and mixed with canned food that they like. Even my adult dogs still like, I give them a lil sometimes. I never any problem with this brand.
